Raising his head, the boy saw Chen Wei dressed in school uniform.

He held a sword. The boy instinctively took a step back.

“Running what?” A girl beside Chen Wei kicked him.

The boy’s hand trembled and the long sword in his arms nearly fell out.

Chen Wei raised her hand, simply reaching over to take the sword he was holding, “Let me hold it for you.”

“Tha-thank you…” The boy’s hands shook as he handed Chen Wei the long sword.

Chen Wei took the long sword and drew it out to take a look. Then used it to slice around coldly laughing, “He likes this kind?”

Her voice was icy.

“What’re you still looking at? Hurry up and scram!” The tall girl beside her kicked him.

The boy staggered and fled as if escaping.

“What happened?” Xu Qian saw his panicked appearance and was baffled.

“No-nothing.” The boy frantically shook his head.

Xu Qian narrowed her eyes watching his disappearing back. Feeling it was strange.

Outside, Lu Xiaohan handed Bailian two tickets.

It was said investors were coming today. Afraid something might happen on site, the school limited non-school personnel entering the grand hall.

Bailian was taking bus no. 12 to the library one stop over. Lu Xiaohan accompanied her to the bus stop.

Passing an intersection, Zhang Shize’s mother suddenly poked her head out from the flower shop, “Xiaohan, isn’t Yang Lin with you today?”

“She’s at the milk tea shop.” Lu Xiaohan and Bailian stopped.

“Then can you help me give her this flower? Zhang Shize that brat said he seemed to have gotten her into trouble today,” Zhang Shize’s mother hurriedly took out a fresh lily from the shop. She locked the door, “The greenhouse is having me hurry over. I won’t make it until she’s off work!”

“Sure Auntie.” Lu Xiaohan took the lily.

Yang Lin would come buy a lily here every Friday.

Zhang Shize’s mother knew she liked lilies. Today she specially saved the most beautiful one for her.

“You go on,” Lu Xiaohan scratched her nose and handed Bailian the flower, “I’m afraid Classmate Yang Lin won’t take it from me.”

Besides Bailian, Lu Xiaohan had never seen Yang Lin accept anything from others.

Bailian inclined her head looking at the elegant lily in Lu Xiaohan’s hand. The flower was snow white, uniquely shaped like a trumpet. Still rolling with fresh dewdrops, its green stem erect like jade.

Pure, beautiful and tasteful.

“Okay.” She reached to take it.

It was past school rush hour but there were still many people at the milk tea shop.

“I heard the milk tea shop changed owners. The milk tea and pastries here are amazing. Many people came just for the reputation,” commented Lu Xiaohan.

Bailian: “……”

Wearing the milk tea shop’s yellow jacket, Yang Lin with a mask on was making milk tea for someone.

The moment she handed a cup of milk tea to a customer, a lily was stuffed into her hand.

“Why’re you looking at me,” said Bailian slowly taking out her earphones to put them on and raised a brow, “Zhang Shize’s mom gave it to you.”

Lu Xiaohan was convinced.

As the two were about to leave, she suddenly heard Yang Lin softly say, “Wait.”

Yang Lin rarely spoke. Her voice was soft and light, Lu Xiaohan almost thought she misheard.

Probably five minutes later.

She carried over two freshly made milk teas to hand to them, lowering her head softly saying, “The owner here doubled my salary. The milk tea cost is deducted from it.”

Not only that, every day the milk tea shop’s dessert chef would give Yang Lin some unsold pastries to take home.

Yang Lin turned back to continue working.

The owner had hired several employees so her three hours daily part-time job wasn’t busy at all. She still found time to memorize words.

“I want a rainbow mousse cake…” a middle-aged woman placed an order.

Yang Lin went to the back to grab the cake.

The dessert chef had gone on break. He took off his hat, glanced at Yang Lin and waved his hand, “Go tell them the cakes have sold out.”

After speaking he nimbly turned around. He put the two cakes on display into plastic bags tying them up and casually threw them onto the countertop, “Failed products. Remember to take them when you get off work. You can throw them away if you don’t eat them.”

After speaking he took off his white coat and left from the back door holding his phone.

Yang Lin still heard his low grumbling voice, “F*ck, how on earth did I offend him to get assigned here making cakes five hours a day. I’ll never like making cakes again. I hate making cakes…”

Two tickets. One for Jiang He, one for Bailian to bring home for Ji Heng.

When she took the bus to the library.

Ming Dongheng and Chen Ju were at the library entrance with Jiang He.

When Bailian arrived, Chen Ju was smoking to the side complaining to Ming Dongheng, “I finally managed to arrange a meeting with him yesterday. His subordinate told me he had to help a granny fix her front gate? Can you say if that makes any sense or not?”

Ming Dongheng very coolly stood two steps away with one hand in his pocket holding a cartoon backpack with a big cabbage print.

Hearing this, without even lifting his head, “It makes sense. Elder sister Bei once helped a granny cross the street too.”

“She actually helped cross the street?” Chen Ju was surprised, “That cold-blooded person would help a granny cross the street? I always thought you people were joking about her.”

Chen Ju didn’t dare joke about any of them.

Jiang Xizuo’s laugh concealed malice.

Xu Nanjing’s gentleness stabbed you.

Whereas Chen Beixuan was fierce, every stab drew blood.

Ming Dongheng was the most congenial. Simple.

Ming Dongheng glanced at him, “You can still find that post of hers on the military academy forums.”

Chen Ju didn’t dare ask Chen Beixuan.

Hearing there was still a post he grew interested.

Just as the two spoke, Bailian got off the bus. Chen Ju hurriedly put out his cigarette.

Ming Dongheng immediately stood straighter. He and Chen Ju had things to do. They needed to leave Jiang He with Bailian, “Sorry to trouble you.”

He respectfully handed Jiang He’s backpack to Bailian.

The two were exceptionally deferential to Bailian.

Ming Dongheng stood at the library entrance.

Watching as Bailian and Jiang He entered he and Chen Ju got in the car.

It was obvious with one look that Bailian could restrain Jiang He. With her by Jiang He’s side and people secretly protecting him, Jiang Fuli was also at ease leaving Ming Dongheng.

“Luckily Miss Bai is here.” Chen Ju sighed looking at the library in the rearview mirror.

At the library.

Bailian leisurely took out a ticket to dangle in front of Jiang He, “Going or not going the day after tomorrow?”

Jiang He didn’t speak either. He directly reached to take it.

Bailian raised a brow. She lifted it out of reach and nonchalantly flicked the ticket, “Not speaking means you don’t want to go.”

Jiang He whose hand couldn’t even reach Bailian’s wrist: “……”

Seeing a certain person actually put away the ticket and was calmly taking out a biology notebook instead, Jiang He: “……”

“Going.”

He mumbled.

Bailian crossed her legs flipping open her notebook. Her slender fingers placed on the table casually pinching the ticket. Hearing this she lazily tilted her head to the side, “Going where?”

“…Going to see the school anniversary celebration,” said Jiang He.

Bailian elegantly folded the ticket sticking it into the small pocket of Jiang He’s vest, “Hold onto it properly.”

10 pm.

Chen Wei wearing her uniform carried a sword home.

At the entrance the servant seeing her hurriedly opened the iron gate, “Mi-miss, the master is waiting for you.”

Chen Wei expressionlessly carried her schoolbag and sword inside.

In the great hall a man stood with his back facing her.

“Father.” She stood in place.

“Slap!”

A slap fiercely struck her cheek.

“Not only did you skip the monthly exam I sent you to that school for you to cause trouble?” Chen Gang9 coldly looked at her, “If only you learned a bit from your brother I wouldn’t be so disappointed in you.”

Blood seeped from the corner of Chen Wei’s mouth from the slap. She covered her face, expression ominous, “Lost face again? How nice.”

Chen Gang reached out his hand, “The rod?!”

“Don’t!” The anxious woman watching to the side finally threw herself over begging Chen Gang. Tearfully pleading, “Chen Wei, hurry and admit your wrong to your father! Admit you were wrong to him!”

The servant lowered his head offering the rod over.

Five minutes later.

Chen Gang lowered his head to look at Chen Wei sprawled on the ground barely able to get up. Indifferently saying, “Take her to solitary confinement.”

The servant came over to support Chen Wei.

Propping herself up with the sword she staggered standing, then fiercely grabbed a cup from the nearby tea table and smashed it at the servant’s head, “F*ck off!”

The servant’s forehead split open and bled from her smash. He covered his forehead and retreated.

The others were long accustomed to this.

Early Wednesday morning.

Jiang He got up early.

When Jiang Fuli came downstairs he had already eaten breakfast and changed into a white dress shirt with black pinstripe suspender shorts. He squatted to put on his shoes.

Jiang Fuli still wore soft loungewear. His hair still damp.

He didn’t say anything either only indifferently glanced at Ming Dongheng standing by Jiang He’s side.

Ming Dongheng stood very straight. He spoke in a straightforward manner, “Young master is going to Miss Bai’s school.”

Jiang Fuli held a teacup in hand. Tall and slender, one hand casually pocketed as he stood before Jiang He. His light colored eyes faintly narrowed sizing up the little guy from above.

Very oppressive.

Ming Dongheng instantly retreated three steps leaving the battlefield.

Jiang He maintained his posture squatting to put on shoes. Raising his head to look straight at Jiang Fuli. His small face expressionless.

His eyes were black, large and round without any emotion. He had always sealed himself away in his own world.

Silently resisting.

Jiang Fuli held his gaze for quite a while.

Then he slammed his teacup down onto the round table next to him. His slender fingers carrying chill as he squatted by Jiang He tying his undone shoelaces into a nice, tidy butterfly knot.

After finishing he stood up with both hands crossed, condescendingly staring coldly down at Jiang He.

Only then did Jiang He slowly say, “School celebration. Sister Bai. Performance.”

As he spoke.

He took out his ticket. “I only have one ticket.”

Jiang Fuli peered at him coldly.

While taking out his phone he went upstairs to change clothes.

He tapped open Chen Ju’s profile pic.

And so the just awakened Chen Ju received Jiang Fuli’s cold four words—

?School celebration tickets?

Chen Ju stared at those four words instantly shuddering awake.

Even through the phone screen he seemed to feel an oncoming blast of chill and killing intent. He couldn’t help but shiver.

He didn’t even have time to wonder why Jiang Fuli wanted tickets.

**

At the same time.

Chen house.

In the pitch black solitary confinement, the faintly conscious Chen Wei crawled up from the floor.

There were no windows in solitary confinement.

Only a small opening in the door for sending Chen Wei meals.

Propping herself up with the sword she crawled to the door and clung onto it yelling, “Anyone out there?!”

The frightened servant on duty outside hurried over without even getting close before being grabbed by the collar and yanked forward by Chen Wei’s outstretched hand, “Give me your phone!”

Whenever Chen Gang confined her he wouldn’t let Chen Wei have her phone.

The servant passed his phone to her trembling, telling her the unlock passcode.

Chen Wei opened the phone directly dialing out a number.

After a long while it was finally picked up by a voice still groggy from sleep, “Who is it, calling dad so early in the morning!”

Chen Wei leaned against the door.

She only remembered Zhang Shize’s number.

The injuries on her body stretched. She hissed then slowly sat down, “Zhang Shize, it’s Chen Wei. I have Bailian’s sword. I can’t go to school right now. Go find Chen Zhuo from Class 8 and have him come fetch it.”

Chen Wei understood every single Chen family member well.

Chen Zhuo knew boundaries. He wouldn’t not come for the sword.

After speaking she hung up the call. Shivering as she slumped by the door.

Then sinisterly looked down at the sword in hand. Such a pity.

She had only gotten to use it for two days.

Whether Zhang Shize actually liked that sword dance or admired that transfer student, she licked her parched lips, “Zh…ang…Shi…ze…”

On the phone Zhang Shize shuddered awake, his grogginess completely vanishing.

He hurriedly crawled out of bed to hastily freshen up. Didn’t even eat breakfast before rushing to school to find someone.

Because it was the school anniversary.

The school was decorated today with lanterns and banners13. Everyone wore their own clothes making everywhere bustling and lively.

Zhang Shize lived right by the school. He charged onto campus asking everywhere until finally finding Class 8’s people in the Arts Building. He clearly relayed everything from start to finish.

Hearing it was Chen Wei’s order, Class 8 didn’t dare delay.

The matter finally conveyed, Zhang Shize leaned against a wall wiping sweat. His long legs casually propped up as he slowly let out a breath.

His exceptionally graceful face didn’t show a hint of dishevelment.

A few girls couldn’t help but glance over here several times.

He was as renowned in school as Chen Zhuo. Even Ren Wanxuan stepping into the piano practice room recognized who he was, “What’s he doing here?”

“Chen Wei called him to tell Chen Zhuo…” Class 8’s people explained. “Oh right, where’s Chen Zhuo? Haven’t seen him all morning. Could you help me pass it on to him later?”

Chen Zhuo and Ren Wanxuan also didn’t join their class group chats.

Even for Class 8, barely anyone could add them.

Ren Wanxuan kicked away a zither stool blocking her path14. She walked to the piano saying indifferently, “Mn.”

Hearing this, the boy also let out a breath of relief, “Thanks then!”

He went out to move other things.

Ren Wanxuan sat before the piano testing the notes. Her phone rang right as she played a chord. It was Chen Zhuo, “Where are you? Come to the principal’s office first. Master Chen will arrive soon.”

“Okay.” Ren Wanxuan promptly got up.

Her classmates next to her knew she was going to accompany the principal meeting an important figure. They watched her leave enviously.

The principal’s office wasn’t far from here.

On the ground floor of the Admin Building Ren Wanxuan saw Chen Zhuo waiting for her.

Noticing Ren Wanxuan’s gaze, Chen Zhuo stopped asking, “Anything else?”

Ren Wanxuan wasn’t close with Chen Wei. Chen Wei also didn’t dare provoke her.

So Chen Zhuo waited for her by the stairwell.

After quite a while she withdrew her eyes.

Shook her head: “Nothing.”
