She never expected her to say such things. Lin Xi Geng stood still in disbelief, softly saying, “Oh,” as she watched Lin Xi Chi use her index finger to unfasten the bra and open the door.
Lin Xi Geng suddenly realized what was happening and rushed over. She held Lin Xi Chi tightly and said, “Wait a moment, don’t do this, calm down.”
Lin Xi Chi, who seemed bewildered by her own actions, didn’t resist and just stared blankly.
Lin Xi Geng’s grip loosened, and the bra dropped to the floor.
Just as Lin Xi Geng was about to pull her back inside, Xu Fang, who was staying in the neighboring room, happened to walk out. He was dressed in the same clothes as before, holding the room key and card, unsure of where he was headed.
He caught a glimpse of the two of them, turned his head, furrowed his brows, and asked, “Where are you two going?”
Hearing Xu Fang’s voice, Lin Xi Chi snapped out of her daze, sniffed again, raised her hand weakly, and pointed at him. “Xu Fang, I’m asking you—”
Seeing that she still looked clueless, Xu Fang raised an eyebrow, curious about what this tipsy girl wanted to say to him.
In the next moment, Lin Xi Geng reached out and covered her mouth, awkwardly saying, “Uh, she’s still a bit out of it, hahaha… We’re going to bed.”
“…”
Xu Fang watched as Lin Xi Chi, with a silly expression, seemed like she wanted to say something. Lin Xi Geng dragged her back into the room, and then there was a loud closing of the door.
Something was pushed out along with the door’s movement.
Xu Fang lowered his head to see what it was.
Coincidentally, a woman walked out of the opposite room.
Noticing Xu Fang’s gaze and the object on the floor, her expression turned peculiar. She gave him a cautious look and then returned to her room, closing the door.
“…”
At that moment, Xu Fang had a genuine urge to drag Lin Xi Chi out and scold her.
After Lin Xi Geng dragged Lin Xi Chi into the room, she handed her the freshly prepared honey water and said fiercely, “Hurry up and drink this, drink ten cups!”
She was about to continue scolding Lin Xi Chi when her phone rang.
Xu Fang: [Something fell.]
Lin Xi Geng whispered in confusion, “What fell?” Then she walked to the door. Xu Fang was no longer in sight, and she lowered her gaze, noticing the bra on the floor. Her expression stiffened.
Lin Xi Geng took a deep breath, picked it up, and closed the door again.
Drunk Lin Xi Chi was unusually obedient, currently gulping down water, one sip after another. She wanted to look at Lin Xi Geng but was afraid of getting scolded, so she kept avoiding eye contact.
“Do you even know what you did just now?” Lin Xi Geng walked over and stood in front of her. At this moment, she only had one thought, scolding her. “You embarrassed yourself, and you even threw something into the neighboring room!”
Lin Xi Chi immediately finished drinking the water in her cup in one breath, then placed the cup on the bedside table and quickly burrowed under the blanket, not showing a single strand of hair and refusing to listen to what Lin Xi Geng had to say.
Seeing this, Lin Xi Geng couldn’t be bothered with her anymore and muttered, “Anyway, don’t blame me tomorrow. I did my best to stop you. Really, not being able to handle alcohol but still drinking so much.”
Lin Xi Chi gradually fell asleep amidst Lin Xi Geng’s complaints.
In the middle of the night, Lin Xi Chi suddenly woke up. She looked around in a daze, surrounded by darkness, unable to see anything. Her mind was like a broken string, and she felt around blindly for something nearby.
Then, she touched a head, a head with long hair.
The owner of the head seemed to be asleep, completely unresponsive to her poking.
Memories flooded back like a raging river, and Lin Xi Chi’s breathing paused. She suddenly kicked the person next to her, “Lin Xi Geng? Don’t sleep! Get up! Quickly!”
Startled by her kick, Lin Xi Geng woke up instantly, then buried her head back under the blanket and groggily asked, “What time is it…”
“I don’t know.” Lin Xi Chi didn’t care about such trivial matters at the moment. Her voice was filled with frustration. “Tell me, did I go to confront Xu Fang? I couldn’t have, absolutely impossible. Even if I were drunk, I wouldn’t do such a thing, right…”
Hearing this, Lin Xi Geng emerged from the blanket, showing half of her face. She looked at Lin Xi Chi and said, “No.”
Lin Xi Chi breathed a sigh of relief.
Lin Xi Geng closed her eyes, let out a small yawn, and said calmly, “But you left your bra outside. Xu Fang asked me to pick it up.”
“…”
After a long silence, Lin Xi Geng didn’t hear Lin Xi Chi say anything else. She was about to go back to sleep when Lin Xi Chi suddenly sat up and made a series of rustling sounds.
After being in the dark for so long, Lin Xi Chi could now roughly make out the layout of the room. She picked up the lamp on the bedside table and began packing her things as if she were escaping.
Lin Xi Geng, annoyed by her restlessness, said, “What are you doing? Can’t you sleep? Stop fidgeting. I have to get up early for school tomorrow.”
“You go back to sleep.” Lin Xi Chi continued packing and then looked up at Lin Xi Geng. “Geng Geng, I’m leaving. Tomorrow morning, get up early and leave quietly. Don’t let Xu Fang find out.”
“…What are you going to do?”
“Just let him think it was just a dream.” Lin Xi Chi zipped up her backpack and slung it over her shoulder. “I can’t afford to lose this person, absolutely not. I’m leaving. Goodbye.”
Lin Xi Geng responded with an “Oh” and slowly got up.
Sensing her movements, Lin Xi Chi asked in surprise, “Are you leaving with me?”
“No.” Lin Xi Geng pushed the blanket aside and found something on the bed. “I need to call Xu Fang.”
“…” Lin Xi Chi stared at her, speaking seriously, “Lin Xi Geng, I’m telling you, this is very serious. I’m not joking. Put your phone down right now.”
Lin Xi Geng let out a grunt and tossed her phone aside. She listened to Lin Xi Chi’s footsteps and muttered, “I came out late from the evening self-study to find you.”
Hearing this, Lin Xi Chi stopped in her tracks, turned back, and asked curiously, “Isn’t your head teacher a monster?”
“Yeah.” Lin Xi Geng confirmed.
“You’re in trouble.” Lin Xi Chi looked at her sympathetically, then raised her arms and cheered as if celebrating, “I was once one minute late to his class, and he scolded me for an entire class.”
“…,” Lin Xi Geng said nothing.
Lin Xi Chi continued, “And he’s definitely going to inform your parents. How are you going to explain this to them?”
Lin Xi Geng pretended to be disdainful and said, “Who cares.”
“Forget it.” Lin Xi Chi tossed her things back onto the table and lay back in her original position. “I can’t hide from him forever—” She paused for a moment, then struggled to say, “And Xu Fang doesn’t seem like the type who would, you know, be too upset about it…”
Lin Xi Chi couldn’t bring herself to say it.
Lin Xi Geng didn’t respond.
Lin Xi Chi didn’t say anything more and softly said, “Let’s go to sleep.”
After a while, Lin Xi Geng suddenly asked, “So, are you going back to school tomorrow?”
Lin Xi Chi didn’t put much thought into it. “I should.”
“Oh,” Lin Xi Geng continued, “Are you coming back for the National Day holiday?”
“If I do,” Lin Xi Chi thought for a moment, then said, “I’ll go to my grandfather’s place with you, and we can go out together. If you don’t want to come back, it’s okay.”
Lin Xi Chi didn’t reply, but she teased Lin Xi Geng, “You’re a high school senior, and you still want to take a few days off during the National Day holiday?”
Lin Xi Geng retorted, “It’s three days off.”
“We’ll talk about it later,” Lin Xi Chi smirked, enjoying her misery. “You should think about how to deal with your head teacher tomorrow.”
“Oh,” Lin Xi Geng responded in the same mocking tone, “Let’s think about it together. You also have to deal with Xu Fang, after all.”
“…”
The next day, Lin Xi Geng got up early and went back to school.
After she left, Lin Xi Chi couldn’t sleep anymore. But she didn’t dare to go and find Xu Fang on her own. She stayed in bed until nine o’clock and only got up when she felt hungry.
Lin Xi Chi got dressed, stood at the door of Xu Fang’s room, and tried to psych herself up. She reassured herself that Xu Fang definitely wouldn’t mind or remember such a small incident.
Then she began knocking on the door.
Knock, knock, knock.
Three polite knocks.
No response.
Lin Xi Chi repeated it, another three knocks.
Still no response.
She quickly lost patience, convinced that Xu Fang was still sleeping, and began pounding on the door with force. She was not happy, “Get up! Who was the one who drank so much last night? It’s almost ten o’clock—”
The door was immediately pulled open.
Xu Fang had a white towel draped over his head, his hair half-dry, and his face still wet. A faint minty scent wafted from him. He had changed into a new outfit, a gray t-shirt and black sweatpants, looking very casual.
But his expression was exceptionally ugly.
Lin Xi Chi blinked, her arrogance instantly dissipating, and her tone changed dramatically. She spoke very obediently, “You were taking a shower, right? Then I’ll wait…”
He interrupted her, “Do you have a headache?”
Lin Xi Chi paused, subconsciously touching her head, “No…”
Xu Fang looked at her for a few seconds, then used his finger to push her head lightly, confirming that she was telling the truth before walking back into his room, gathering his things, and heading out. He glanced at her from the corner of his eye, “I’m leaving.”
Lin Xi Chi quickly followed, “Aren’t you going to dry your hair?”
“…” He didn’t respond.
“Um, Xu Fang,” afraid that he would bring up what happened last night again, Lin Xi Chi spoke with great emotion, “I’m really grateful for what you did for me last night.”
“…”
“If you ever get drunk,” she continued, “I promise, no matter how crazy you act, I’ll take good care of you. Even if you vomit on me—”
At her words, Xu Fang turned his head back, his dark eyes inscrutable, and it was unclear what he was thinking.
Lin Xi Chi gulped and continued tentatively, “I’ll pretend as if nothing happened.”
“…” Xu Fang still didn’t speak.
Lin Xi Chi stared at his expression, trying to figure out his thoughts.
Could it be that my efforts weren’t enough? Not getting angry even when I vomited on him is already a great act of tolerance.
Lin Xi Chi thought for a moment, hesitated, and said cautiously, “Even if you poop on my head—”
Xu Fang: “…”
Before she could finish her sentence, she gave him a slap in despair.
“No, I absolutely can’t stand that!!!”
