Upon hearing his words, Lin Xiche stopped struggling and stared at him with wide eyes. Her gaze was light and clear, appearing bright under the room’s lighting, almost transparent.

She sat quietly, seemingly waiting for his next move.

However, Xu Fang remained still, his fingertips caressing her wrist in a deliberate manner. His eyes had a slightly darkened hue, and his intent was unmistakable.

The two of them were incredibly close.

Lin Xiche’s nose was almost brushing against his, and she could clearly feel his warm breath, carrying a familiar hint of mint and exuding male pheromones.

After a while, the proximity and anticipation made her a bit anxious. Lin Xiche couldn’t help but tilt her head up, attempting to press her lips against his.

Xu Fang reacted quickly, raising his head even higher.

Lin Xiche blinked, not quite realizing that he was evading her advances. She placed a hand on his thigh and tried to move closer.

This time, Xu Fang simply used one hand to press against her head, preventing her from moving.

Seeing this, Lin Xiche withdrew, puzzled, and began to accuse him, “You just said I didn’t kiss properly, and now you’re acting like you’re guarding your virtue. Are you…”

He interrupted her with a slightly hoarse voice, his eyes growing darker and more intense.

“Still causing trouble?”

Lin Xiche thought for a moment and decided it was better to clarify things first. She asked, “What happens if I cause trouble?” Xu Fang’s gaze paused for a few seconds, but in the end, he pulled her closer and whispered, “Nothing happens.”

He bit down on her lower lip, tracing her lip line with his tongue, exerting gentle pressure as if guiding her with tenderness and deep affection. Xu Fang cradled her in his arms, his breathing becoming more rapid.

Soon, he released her and bit her chin firmly, mumbling, “What can happen?”

After that, Lin Xiche didn’t bother him anymore. She sat cross-legged next to him, checking if he had forgotten anything.

She sneaked a few things into his luggage, but Xu Fang quickly noticed and removed them. They continued with this playful back-and-forth, spending over half an hour organizing the luggage. When Xu Fang finally zipped up the suitcase, Lin Xiche sighed in relief, got up, lifted the blanket with her toes, and messed up the neatly folded tofu-like blanket. Then, she lay down on the bed, swinging her feet while playing with her phone.

Xu Fang came out of the bathroom and immediately noticed the messy bed that she had created. He didn’t comment on it and stood next to her, saying, “Get up, I’ll take you back.” Lin Xiche didn’t move, her feet continuing to swing. “I’m not going back today. I told my grandpa.”

Xu Fang frowned, “You’re not going back?”

“I have to take you to the airport tomorrow. Your morning flight, it’s too much trouble to go back and forth. Besides, we’ve slept together before,” Lin Xiche said, looking at him as if she found his reaction exaggerated.

“…”

Xu Fang felt that he could say one sentence now, and she would respond with hundreds.

Without saying anything, he glanced at her a few times and then opened the door, not returning for a long time.

Lin Xiche played with her phone for a while but soon got bored. She lay on the bed and waited for him to come back, but she couldn’t see him anywhere. She felt puzzled and got up, walking out.

The layout of Xu Fang’s house was similar to Lin Xiche’s previous home. Both houses had four rooms on the second floor, with one being the master bedroom. Apart from Xu Fang’s room, the remaining two rooms were a study and a guest room.

The guest room’s door was open, and Xu Fang was inside, making the bed. His movements were not very skilled, so he was a bit slow, especially while putting on the pillowcase.

Lin Xiche walked over and squatted down next to him, holding her face in her hands, and whispered, “Can I sleep here?”

Xu Fang replied with his head down, “I’ll sleep here.”

“Then can I sleep in your room?”

“Yeah.”

Lin Xiche didn’t say anything and just kept squatting next to him, watching him work.

Xu Fang glanced at her from the corner of his eye.

He really felt that ever since they got together, he was serving this little rascal every day. He had never done these things before, but now he was getting better at it.

Xu Fang stuffed the quilt core into the quilt cover, stood up, and shook the quilt forcefully, trying to make the core even. However, no matter how hard he tried, it didn’t seem right. He frowned and spread the quilt flat on the bed, wanting to see where he went wrong.

At the same time, Lin Xiche tapped her legs that had fallen asleep and reminded him, “You just did it wrong. This quilt is rectangular, but you didn’t align it properly. You put the long part at the short end.”

Xu Fang looked at the quilt for a moment, then at her, and asked, “Why didn’t you say that earlier?”

Lin Xiche stood up, smiling mischievously, and said, “I wanted to see you do it again.”

“…”

Afterward, Xu Fang went to the bathroom with a stern face to take a shower.

Lin Xiche went downstairs to the living room to chat with Xu Fang’s parents and inform them that she would be staying here tonight.

As soon as she mentioned this, Xu Fang’s mother immediately stood up and, along with Xu Fang’s father, rushed to help prepare a room for her to ensure she would have a comfortable night’s sleep.

Lin Xiche quickly stopped them and honestly told them that Xu Fang had already prepared everything.

Hearing this, Xu Fang’s mother became even more concerned. She hurriedly dragged Xu Fang’s father upstairs, but after a few steps, she turned back and took Lin Xiche with them.

Lin Xiche had always liked them since she was a child.

Xu Fang’s parents were different from her own. They had different personalities and parenting styles. Lin Xiche’s parents tended to be stricter, planning their daily schedules and setting specific academic goals, while Xu Fang’s parents seemed to care more about his interests, his happiness at school, and their interaction with him resembled that of friends.

Lin Xiche had never envied this before, but now she suddenly felt a bit envious.

Lin Xiche stood by the door, watching the elderly couple rummaging through the guest room as if they were trying to find something Xu Fang had missed. She found it amusing.

After a while, Xu Fang’s father finally wiped off a layer of dust from the edge of the bed and sighed with relief, shaking his head.

“Ah, this kid is still not good at this.”

Xu Fang happened to return at that moment and saw them crowded in one room. He furrowed his brows, asking, “What are you doing?”

The elderly couple didn’t stay longer and just told Lin Xiche to sleep in Xu Fang’s room tonight, leaving the messy guest room for Xu Fang to sleep in.

Once they left, Xu Fang asked again, “What were you guys talking about just now?”

Lin Xiche was honest, “They said you’re not good at this.”

“…”

He had just taken a shower and didn’t have the habit of using a hairdryer. Water droplets from his hair trickled down his cheeks and neck, his dark eyes glistening with moisture, and his lips had taken on a rosy hue.

However, his complexion had darkened even further.

Xu Fang sat there with a stern face, seemingly wanting to argue about something, but he didn’t say anything and just went into the guest room, sitting down with a cold expression.

Lin Xiche didn’t pay much attention to his reaction and went back to Xu Fang’s room. She took out the clean clothes she had brought from her bag and went into the bathroom attached to Xu Fang’s room.

After showering, Lin Xiche used a towel to dry her hair somewhat and then found a hairdryer in the bathroom cabinet. She left the room, heading towards the guest room.

Xu Fang’s hair was already mostly dry, and he was lying on the bed playing with his phone when she entered.

Lin Xiche walked over and took his phone away, then handed him the hairdryer before sitting cross-legged in front of him.

He raised his eyelids slightly and said in a soft tone, “Stop drying, it’s almost done.”

Hearing this, Lin Xiche paused for a moment and then said slowly, “I’m asking you to help me dry it.”

Xu Fang: “…”

He took a deep breath, hesitated for a moment, and then grabbed her and placed her in front of him. He plugged the hairdryer into the nearby socket and seemed to chuckle in annoyance.

“I must have owed you something in my past life.”

Lin Xiche instinctively turned to look at him. “Did you repay it?”

Before Xu Fang could respond, she continued, “If you haven’t, then consider this life as your chance. You owe me a billion from your past life.”

Xu Fang: “…”

“Adjusted for inflation, I’ll give you a discount. You now owe me a hundred billion.”

Xu Fang: “…”

After chatting with Xu Fang in the guest room for quite some time, Lin Xiche didn’t go to sleep.

Xu Fang had booked a flight at 9:00 AM. They woke up early, around 6:00 AM, as they needed to arrive at the airport an hour before the flight.

Although Xu Fang hadn’t asked his parents to send them off, his parents got up early to prepare breakfast and were busy making sure Xu Fang hadn’t forgotten anything.

The normally peaceful morning had become quite lively.

Around 7:30 AM, they left the house, hailed a taxi, and got in.

Unusually, Xu Fang seemed more concerned and talkative than usual, repeatedly giving Lin Xiche various instructions.

“Just for a month, don’t wander around aimlessly, and remember not to stay out late alone.”

Lin Xiche told him, “I’m going to volunteer at an animal rescue center.”

“Be careful then, don’t get bitten. If you ever come home late, call Jiang Zhengxu to pick you up.” Xu Fang didn’t oppose her doing what she wanted, scratched his head, and spoke with rare patience, “I’ve already talked to him about it. Just call him if you need anything.”

Lin Xiche felt something was off but couldn’t quite put her finger on it, so she just nodded.

After some thought, Xu Fang asked, “Have your parents contacted you recently?”

“No,” Lin Xiche didn’t hide it from him, “Just that one phone call, they said they were too busy in B city, and they’d call me when they’re settled.”

“If you’re feeling upset,” Xu Fang’s expression looked annoyed, and he clicked his tongue, “Just don’t go drinking alone like before. Call your sister to go with you.”

The car arrived at the airport just in time. They got out of the car, and Xu Fang went to the trunk to retrieve his suitcase.

Finally, Lin Xiche realized something was wrong. She hesitated and asked, “What’s with you? It’s like I won’t be able to contact you for a month.”

“Pretty much, hand over your phone.” Xu Fang walked over, took her hand, and added, “I should be able to call you once a week, but it’s not confirmed.”

Lin Xiche sighed, opened her mouth as if to say something, but didn’t.

Xu Fang held her hand and led her into the airport. They hadn’t walked far when Lin Xiche suddenly stopped in her tracks.

She didn’t move.

Xu Fang turned to look at her.

Lin Xiche had lowered her head and was fidgeting with her fingers, apparently counting something. After about half a minute, she looked up in disbelief and asked, “So, you’re telling me you can only call me four times in a month?”

Xu Fang was about to respond when Lin Xiche suddenly lunged at him, clinging to him like an octopus.

In an instant, the airport doors seemed like the gates of hell to her. Lin Xiche held her breath, dragging him in the opposite direction.

“So, you’re going away for a month, and you can only call me four times?”

Lin Xiche’s voice was filled with disbelief and frustration, and she clung to Xu Fang as if her life depended on it.

Xu Fang was taken aback by her sudden outburst, and the airport staff and other passengers passing by couldn’t help but glance at the scene.

He awkwardly patted her back and tried to comfort her, “Alright, alright, I’ll call you more often. Don’t make a scene here.”

But Lin Xiche seemed to have lost all reason. She continued to hold onto him tightly, her eyes slightly teary, and she muttered, “You can’t go. I don’t want you to go.”

Xu Fang sighed, realizing that persuading her at the airport wasn’t the best idea. He gently said, “Let’s go inside first, and we can talk about it.”

Lin Xiche reluctantly released him, but her eyes were still filled with sadness. They walked into the airport together, leaving behind the scene of their emotional reunion at the entrance.
