Mint in the Rain – Epilogue 2

On the third day after their wedding, the couple put aside all their work and began their month-long honeymoon.

The first destination was Yun City.

After flying for ten hours and taking a taxi to the bed and breakfast, it was already past eight in the evening.

The owners of the B&B were a couple in their thirties. When they arrived, the couple’s daughter was still hunched over the table doing homework, but a large yellow dog came out enthusiastically to welcome them.

The owner helped carry their luggage upstairs and invited them to come down later for a late-night snack.

The man’s smile was honest and kind, making it impossible to refuse.

The two quickly freshened up and went downstairs for a midnight snack. The airplane food hadn’t been to their taste, and they were genuinely hungry by this time.

When they reached the first floor of the B&B, they discovered it wasn’t just them—there was another young couple who looked like college students.

The owner’s daughter also had a large bowl of rice noodles in front of her.

The owner’s wife smiled, “This little glutton complained about being hungry and insisted I make her a bowl too.”

The little girl slurped her noodles while her round eyes curiously darted around. Shu He glanced over and immediately met her direct gaze.

Seeing Shu He looking at her, the little girl showed no shyness and complimented her in a crisp, polite voice: “Big sister, your ring is so pretty!”

In that moment, everyone at the table except the owner’s wife looked over—the other young woman’s eyes clearly filled with envy.

Shu He instinctively looked at the person beside her and saw his eyebrows slightly raised, the corners of his lips faintly curved upward. She wasn’t sure what he was so happy about.

She responded naturally with an “Mm” and without any affectation: “Thank you, I think it’s very beautiful too.”

On their honeymoon, she was wearing the pink diamond ring.

She had initially been hesitant because the pink diamond was too eye-catching and might attract too much attention when walking around.

But if she didn’t wear it now, it seemed like there would be even less opportunity to wear it later.

The owner’s wife had actually noticed it earlier, and seeing her daughter ask so bluntly, she gently scolded the little girl and then apologized to them: “This child is just like this—curious about everything she sees.”

Shu He smiled softly, indicating she didn’t mind.

After the owner’s wife left, she quietly asked the person beside her: “What are you so happy about?”

Jing Yi took a sip of the flavorful soup, his tone lightly rising, sounding rather proud: “I told you this pink diamond is beautiful and suits you perfectly.”

“……”

Shu He gave him a helpless glance. After dinner, they went out for a short walk. When they returned, they saw the little girl crouching at the entrance, eagerly waiting for something.

Seeing them return, the little girl excitedly waved her hand. It was only then that they noticed what she was holding.

Worn on her finger was a large pink diamond candy.

“Big sister, I have a ring too.”

Jing Yi raised an eyebrow, and Shu He played along nicely, smiling and saying, “Your ring is so big.”

The little girl tilted her head up like an adorable little peacock. She glanced at the ring on Shu He’s hand: “But I think big sister’s is prettier. When I grow up, I want to buy one for myself too.”

Jing Yi couldn’t help but look at her twice, while Shu He curved her lips and responded, “Of course you can. When you grow up, you can work hard and buy yourself everything you want.”

After chatting briefly with the little girl, the couple held hands and returned to their room.

Thinking of the little girl’s diamond candy, she couldn’t help but ask curiously, “Have you ever had those before? Those diamond candies.”

He shook his head and answered honestly: “I never had snacks.”

Shu He was a bit shocked and paused for a moment before speaking more softly: “Nothing at all?”

He thought carefully: “If cake doesn’t count as a snack, then no, I never had any.”

Ren Yinyue never allowed them to eat any snacks.

Although Shu He herself hadn’t eaten many snacks as a child either, a trace of sympathy passed through her heart.

Back in the room, they finally had a chance to properly look around.

The room was spacious and clean, with one side facing the ocean, though the darkness now obscured the beautiful scenery.

Jing Yi showered first, but when he came out, Shu He was nowhere to be seen in the room.

He frowned and was about to call her when there was a “beep” sound, and she returned from outside, arms full of items.

Shu He dumped everything onto the table. Jing Yi stared at the unfamiliar pile of snacks, momentarily stunned.

“Come here,” she beckoned to him, casually picking up a package of colorful candies.

His gaze moved from the jumbled snacks to her delicate, pretty face as he asked hesitantly: “Where did all these snacks come from?”

“I got them from the owner’s daughter.”

She had originally wanted to ask where to buy them nearby, but the owner kindly told her that snacks were overpriced here and not worth the money, so he just gave her a whole bunch.

Shu He felt too embarrassed to accept them for free, so before leaving, she secretly scanned a QR code and paid.

The little girl’s snack collection was like a mini convenience store. She generously picked out what she thought were the best ones and gave them to Shu He.

Seeing him not moving, Shu He stuffed a colorful string candy into his mouth. It was a long strip, which he instinctively held with his hand. After biting it off, he couldn’t help but frown.

“So sweet.”

Shu He tried some too. It tasted somewhat like gummy candy with a strong artificial fruit flavor.

Seeing her contemplating which package to open next, Jing Yi drank some water to wash down the sweetness and asked: “Why did you suddenly buy snacks?”

Shu He’s movements paused. Her makeup was still on, and her blue Bohemian-style spaghetti strap dress made her look gentle. The necklace he had given her rested on her collarbone. She tilted her head slightly, her clear eyes as beautiful as amber: “Didn’t you say you never had snacks before?”

As she spoke, she lazily propped up her chin, looking relaxed and content: “Actually, I haven’t had many either.”

The only ones she had tried were rewards from her elementary school teacher.

Her homeroom teacher was a gentle new teacher who prepared various rewards for students with excellent performance. She had ranked first in her class and, for the first time, could freely choose what she wanted.

Among stationery, stuffed animals, and snacks, she chose a package of cute bear cookies.

She still remembered the taste of those cookies—they had cheese filling and were delicious.

“Since neither of us has had much experience, why don’t we revisit our childhood together?”

Who says they can’t eat snacks now that they’re grown up and married?

They can do it anytime.

Jing Yi was tempted by her words. Looking at the colorful snacks on the table, he picked a package of dried figs.

Since they were having snacks anyway, Shu He impulsively turned on the TV and started browsing through cartoons.

Jing Yi leisurely ate a strand of dried fig while casually glancing at the screen. He frowned and asked: “Pleasant Goat hasn’t been eaten yet?”

“……….”

Shu He opened a bottle of Shuangwaiwai milk, somewhat exasperated: “Don’t you know that Pleasant Goat is the smartest in the village?”

Whatever she drank, he would take a sip too. After trying her milk, he simply responded with an “oh”: “What about Lazy Goat?”

“Lazy Goat is so cute.”

“……”

He was like the King of Hell checking off a death list, going through all the sheep one by one.

Upon learning that none of the sheep had been eaten, he frowned, clearly disdainful: “Is Grey Wolf that useless? He hasn’t caught any after so many years?”

“……”

Shu He gave him an amused look. Although she hadn’t watched many cartoons either, she still guessed: “If they were eaten, how would the plot continue? It would turn into ‘Sheep Village Escape Season’—stop stealing my cookies!”

“……”

The first half of what his wife said made sense, and he nodded in agreement, while ignoring the second half as he sneakily reached for the cookies in her hand. Shu He childishly protected her food.

He put on a pitiful “I understand now” expression, “So in your heart, I’m worth less than a package of cookies.”

Shu He: “……”

But these cookies were really delicious, and there was only one package.

Fine, fine. Cookies can be bought again, but husbands are harder to appease.

She kicked off her shoes, curled her legs, and leaned against him, feeding him cookies.

He was still pretending, silently turning his face away, biting the straw of his milk, his long eyelashes lowered, giving him a gloomy, melancholic appearance.

“…..”

Shu He held back her laughter. With cookies still in one hand, she affectionately leaned closer, “Don’t want cookies? How about a kiss?”

His eyelashes fluttered, and his dark eyes looked straight at her. The moment the straw fell away, his soft lips pressed against hers. A low “mm” escaped from his throat, accompanied by a sweet milk flavor.

Shu He’s heart melted, finding him increasingly adorable. After kissing for a while, she felt like she had turned into milk candy, being sucked and nibbled by him, her mouth filled with that sweet, sticky taste.

The wet, hot kiss ended during Grey Wolf’s classic line. She pushed him away and fed him another cookie. This time he didn’t refuse, obediently biting it from her hand. Whether intentionally or not, his teeth grazed her hand.

On the first night of their honeymoon, they cuddled in the room, eating snacks they had never tried before while discussing cartoon plots.

It was a bit strange, a bit childish, but very happy.

The next day, Shu He woke up first.

She carefully moved his arm away and gave him a light kiss before getting up.

In the bright sunlight, the distant sea sparkled, and birds occasionally flew across the sky. She stretched comfortably, feeling the fresh air seep into her bones, her entire being filled with joy.

She hadn’t been up long when there was a slight movement behind her.

Jing Yi embraced her from behind, his chin nestling in the crook of her neck. His soft, slightly curly black hair was disheveled, and he wasn’t wearing his glasses. Looking somewhat sleepy with drooping eyelids, he planted a sticky kiss on her cheek, his voice husky: “Morning.”

Shu He turned around, circled her arms around his neck, and gently kissed him: “Good morning.”

After a long kiss, Shu He pushed him away and ruffled his soft black hair: “Go wash up quickly, we’ll head out soon.”

They had planned to visit some famous attractions today.

He was always particularly clingy in the mornings, hugging her and refusing to let go. With no other option, Shu He led him to the bathroom. Looking at the expressionless man in the mirror, she burst into laughter and squeezed toothpaste onto his toothbrush: “Hurry up and brush your teeth. I’ll reward you with another kiss when you’re done.”

Like coaxing a child.

Jing Yi gave his wife a sideways glance. She had already turned away, her chestnut-colored hair pulled over her left shoulder, exposing her snow-white nape.

After washing up, he saw Shu He with her back to him, her nightgown removed, completely bare. Her skin was as white as jade. She knelt on the bed, and the faint sunlight filtering in seemed to cast a thin layer of light on her graceful figure.

Further down, her pristine feet were painted with transparent nail polish. She had mentioned before that this color was called “pink cat’s eye.”

Very pretty, making her feet even more adorable.

He couldn’t help but think of those times when he annoyed her, and she would lightly kick him with those beautiful feet.

Other times, they would rest on his waist, moving together with him.

When he hugged her from behind, Shu He had just finished applying her nipple covers.

She ignored his affection and muttered: “I won’t buy this brand next time.”

It was a different style of nipple cover, and she had almost failed to apply it properly.

Jing Yi found it fascinating. His gaze fell on the full cleavage: “Can two little stickers really hold them up? Won’t they fall off?”

Shu He responded with a “mm” and finally pushed him away.

He sat limply to the side, watching her put on her dress—a simple white waist-cinching dress. Worried about the strong wind by the sea, they had bought a blue patchwork shawl during their outing last night.

When Shu He finished applying her makeup, he quietly embraced her from behind again, catching a whiff of her perfume: “So beautiful.”

Shu He graciously accepted the compliment. She pinched his chin and kissed him with a smile: “You’re so sweet.”

He was clearly not satisfied with such a light reward, but it was time to go out.

Besides, she had specifically reminded him before leaving: no perverted thoughts, no rough play, just enjoy the trip properly.

After going out, they first ate some local specialties before taking a car to the beach.

The azure sea shimmered with sparkling light. Not just the sea, but the sky was also incredibly blue. Seagulls spread their wings and flew past. Even someone like Jing Yi, who didn’t enjoy going out, was somewhat amazed.

There were already many tourists here. Jing Yi held the camera, with a stylish pair of sunglasses on his high, straight nose, very seriously taking photos for her.

But Shu He still wanted photos of them together. Fortunately, many enthusiastic passersby were willing to help. After taking photos, he put his arm around her shoulders, pushed his sunglasses up to his hair, and lowered his head to look at the photos with her.

“Can we print all of these when we get back?”

Since she asked, Jing Yi naturally couldn’t refuse.

After taking photos for a while, they held hands and strolled leisurely along the beach.

Unlike the hustle and bustle of the city, walking along such a beautiful beach naturally calmed their hearts.

When they saw people riding bicycles on the road, Shu He asked casually: “Do you know how to ride a bike?”

The moment she asked, she remembered that he had learned in college.

Thinking back to that time, she smiled gently: “You were so silly, following me on foot while I rode my bicycle.”

His legs weren’t good, and she wasn’t riding slowly. He was really foolish.

Jing Yi looked at her smiling face and couldn’t help but curve his lips: “If I didn’t follow, how could I chase after senior?”

It had been a very long time since she heard the term “senior.” Shu He’s smile deepened, and she became interested: “Then will you give me a ride on your bicycle?”

“Sure.”

They rented a bicycle. Shu He sat on the back seat. The person in front suddenly turned to look at her, his tone unusually light: “Senior, hold on tight to me.”

In the golden sunlight, his bright black eyes rippled with laughter, and the breeze ruffled his dark curly hair.

This spirited appearance seemed to take them back to their college days.

Shu He wrapped her arms tightly around his waist.

As the bicycle leisurely rode along the seaside, they occasionally chatted. Her dress and long hair fluttered in the wind, her entire being bathed in warm sunlight, as if wrapped in a fluffy sense of happiness, feeling extremely content.

After spending the afternoon exploring, they went to eat local specialties.

They heard that one should be cautious about eating the local mushrooms. Shu He didn’t particularly like these anyway, so she just tried a sip of the soup. Jing Yi, however, took a liking to them and ate quite a bit.

On the taxi ride back, he seemed a bit carsick, drowsily resting his head on her shoulder. Shu He didn’t disturb him.

When they arrived at the B&B, she gently called his name twice. The man opened somewhat confused eyes, staring at her for a long time without saying a word, as if trying to recognize who she was.

Shu He assumed he was still disoriented from the carsickness. As she held his hand getting out of the car, they ran into the young couple they had met during dinner the other day.

The girl greeted her with a friendly nod. Upon learning they had eaten mushrooms today, she exclaimed in surprise: “Are you both okay? My boyfriend and I got food poisoning a few days ago. We were delirious and even ended up in the hospital.”

Shu He smiled faintly and responded, “I—”

Just as she uttered one word, the hand intertwined with hers suddenly let go. The person who had been beside her abruptly walked ahead. Shu He had no time to call him and could only hurry after him: “Jing Yi—”

Her words stopped abruptly as she stared in shock at the man crouching in front of the yellow dog—

“Wife.”

“Sister.”

“Shu He.”

With an expressionless face, he suddenly grabbed the yellow dog that had been leisurely resting by the door, holding it tightly in his arms. His voice was extremely serious, yet somehow strangely gentle: “Don’t be afraid, I’m here to save you.”

Shu He: “????”

The equally confused yellow dog: “?”
