Nine Out of Ten Points Gentleness – Chapter 34

Jiang Wen had a slight fever and slept until the afternoon. With the high heating temperature, he was covered in a light sweat.

The room was quiet, with a light sensation on his face. He struggled to open his eyes; the curtains were drawn tight, making the surroundings very dark. After a moment of confusion, Jiang Wen finally recognized the dark figure by his bed as Jiang Yurou.

He sat up slightly, his voice tired and hoarse: “How did you get here?”

“Auntie Cai carried me here.”

“Done with tutoring?”

Jiang Yurou struggled to climb onto her brother’s bed, flopping onto his legs, “It’s been done for ages! We’re about to have dinner now.”

Her legs weren’t very mobile, so Jiang Wen moved aside a bit, steadying her shoulders, “Where’s that sister?”

“The tutor sister?”

Jiang Wen made a sound of agreement and turned on the wall lamp by the bed. His lips were covered in dry, dead skin, and he rubbed them with the back of his hand.

Picking up a cup to drink water, he heard Jiang Yurou say: “Sister has already gone home.”

“When did she leave?” Jiang Wen’s mouth moved slightly away from the cup’s rim.

“Just now.”

Jiang Wen’s throat moved, and he tilted his head back to continue taking small sips of water, moistening his throat.

Jiang Yurou watched him with her chin propped up in both hands, “Brother, I asked for you!”

“Asked what?”

“I asked the tutor sister who’s more handsome, you or Cousin Jing!”

Swallowing the water, Jiang Wen pretended to be casual: “Oh, what did she say?”

Jiang Yurou thought for a moment: “Sister said she’ll tell you the answer herself through WeChat.”

“Tell me?” Jiang Wen choked and coughed once, putting down the cup and asking her anxiously: “Did you tell her I asked you to ask?!”

Jiang Yurou nodded her head, her big eyes blinking, completely unaware that anything was wrong, “Yes.”

“……”

Jiang Wen was silent. He closed his eyes briefly, then opened them, trying his best to remain calm.

Auntie Cai’s voice came from the door: “Has Xiaorou woken up brother? It’s time to eat.”

Jiang Yurou responded: “Brother is awake.”

Jiang Wen felt his head starting to hurt again. He rubbed his forehead, “Auntie Cai, please carry her out first, I’ll change clothes and come down.”

After they left, Jiang Wen threw back the covers and got out of bed, stood up, spent a few seconds feeling frustrated, then quickly picked up his charging phone.

His fingers touched the WeChat interface, then pulled back.

His head still feeling a bit heavy, Jiang Wen sat on the edge of the bed with his legs spread, elbows propped on his knees.

Just then, his phone vibrated slightly, creating a slightly numbing sensation in his palm.

Xi Gaoyuan sent a message: Brother Wen, what are you doing? Want to hang out? [heart][heart]

Jiang Wen glanced at it, too lazy to reply, and maintained his position while spacing out for a while longer. After finishing his worrying, he put the phone face down on the bed and sluggishly put on his clothes.

While going downstairs, he opened his message list. After spending a long time mentally preparing, he clicked on Feng Ning’s chat box: The result was just one emoji.

He leaned against the railing, holding his phone up to his eyes, enlarging the image.

Three large characters saying “Get – Lost – Now”

Jiang Yunyun passed through the living room and called from below: “What are you doing standing on the stairs, come down quickly.”

After staring at it for a while, Jiang Wen found it hard to believe and sent a question mark back.

The other side replied quickly, with another three sarcastic words: Stop comparing

Calming his emotions, Jiang Wen went downstairs, sending her a string of periods. -fnn: You’re actually concerned about who’s more handsome between you and your cousin? -w: … I’m not concerned -fnn: Then why did you have your sister ask me?

At the dining table, the servant was setting out bowls and chopsticks. Jiang Wen sat in his place, thought for a while, and replied: -w: I didn’t ask her to ask -fnn: ?

Jiang Wen typed a lot of text in the chat box, then deleted it, then typed again after deleting. -w: Today I just casually asked her one question, as for why she later went to ask you, I don’t know either

After sending it, he kept watching the chat box. The other side showed “typing…”

The phone buzzed once. -fnn: Oh~~ So that’s how it is!

After an imperceptible pause, Jiang Wen typed: -w: Whatever, how you think about it has nothing to do with me.

Yin Yan coughed once and said softly: “Jiang Wen, don’t play with your phone while eating.”

Jiang Wen turned his head slightly, absent-mindedly picked up his chopsticks, took a bite of rice, his eyes never leaving the phone screen.

Feng Ning sent a crying woman covering her mouth emoji, with the text: [How proud can I be, I’m so fragile] -fnn: This is for you

Jiang Wen typed with one hand: -w: Are you mocking me? -fnn: How would I dare

Yin Yan’s voice raised a bit, carrying some anger: “Who are you messaging with, I told you to stop playing and eat first!”

He had been too absorbed in chatting and belatedly realized all the elders at the table were watching him.

Jiang Wen felt like a thief caught in the act, awkwardly putting his phone aside.

Shuang Yao’s parents went to another province to visit relatives these past few days, so she had been staying at Feng Ning’s house. During dinner, Shuang Yao suddenly asked, “How is Jiang Wen’s house, is it super luxurious?”

Feng Ning, with her mouth full of food, recalled for a moment and answered: “Actually it’s not that exaggerated. But their house decoration is really extravagant, extremely extravagant.” Then she added: “I feel like casually taking any item from there could sell for a lot of money.”

Shuang Yao asked: “Were you intimidated?”

“Hmph, I’ve seen my share of the world too, you know.” Feng Ning said calmly, stuffing another egg in her mouth, mumbling: “But I was shocked by Jiang Wen’s dad and uncles.”

“Why?”

“In the morning they were all in suits and ties, just like those top executives you see coming out of skyscrapers in TV dramas. The most extreme part was they had black bodyguards following them, if you didn’t know better you’d think they were filming a mafia movie.”

Shuang Yao listened with a look of admiration.

Qi Lan watched the two of them eating and hearing this, smacked Feng Ning’s head, “What nonsense are you talking about?”

“Mom, I want cola,” Feng Ning wheedled.

Qi Lan glared at her, taking a tissue to wipe her mouth, “What cola while eating?” After thinking for a moment, she asked: “Why are you tutoring your classmate’s sister at their house?”

Qi Lan didn’t know about Feng Ning working at the bar, and naturally, Feng Ning couldn’t mention Zhao Huiyun. She calmly recited her previously prepared explanation, “My classmate’s sister is in the same class as Zhao Binlin’s cousin, Zhao Binlin introduced me.”

Qi Lan didn’t suspect anything, turning her face slightly aside and coughing twice, “Then you must be serious about it.”

“Mom, why have you been coughing so much lately?” Feng Ning put down her chopsticks, somewhat worried.

Qi Lan waved her hand, “It’s nothing, my chest has been a bit tight lately, probably because I haven’t exercised in too long.”

Another day passed, and Feng Ning went to tutor Jiang Yurou.

Jiang Wen never appeared.

Today’s lesson went quickly, and checking the time, Feng Ning assigned Jiang Yurou a few problems.

Jiang Yurou lay on the desk seriously solving problems, and Feng Ning, having nothing else to do, also took out a chemistry paper to work on alongside her.

The family’s housekeeper came in, placed a plate of strawberries on the table, and quietly left again.

Jiang Yurou ate a few, then struggled to jump up from her chair.

Feng Ning put down her pen and quickly grabbed her, “Hey hey hey, where are you going?”

Jiang Yurou held the porcelain plate: “Brother loves strawberries the most, sister can you carry me over there?”

Feng Ning tapped her nose, taking the plate, “Sister can’t carry you, you stay here and do your homework properly, sister will help you take it over.”

She had a good memory, having followed Jiang Wen to his room once before. This time she found her way quickly, and the door was slightly ajar.

“Jiang Wen, your sister brought you some strawberries.” After knocking for a while with no response, she faintly heard some noise. Feng Ning simply pushed open the door and slipped inside.

She didn’t enter his bedroom, just casually placed the fruit plate on the bookshelf in the hallway.

Just as she was about to leave, she suddenly heard movement behind her. Feng Ning turned around.

Jiang Wen had just pushed open the bathroom door, water droplets sliding down his black hair and face.

She was stunned for a second.

Their eyes met face to face, and Feng Ning’s mouth fell open, her eyes widening in horror as her gaze involuntarily moved downward for a moment.

Jiang Wen froze, also looking down.

His skin, fresh from the shower, glowed pink in the bathroom’s light and steam behind him.

However, he was completely naked, not wearing even a pair of shorts. He was completely exposed before Feng Ning’s eyes, creating a very shocking sensory impact.

Like a bolt from the blue, Jiang Wen’s mouth opened slightly as he called out, using his hands to cover below.

Feng Ning snapped back to reality, quickly covering her eyes and turning around, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I didn’t see anything, I’m leaving right now.”

Feng Ning groped her way towards the door like a blind person, but just as she touched the door, she suddenly heard knocking.

Jiang Yunyun said from outside: “Xiao Wen, are you there?”

Everything happened too quickly, and Feng Ning had no idea how to handle this situation. With no time to think, she reflexively walked back.

Feng Ning spun around in place twice.

This was bad, really bad.

Like a gust of wind, she swept past the petrified Jiang Wen. In her panic, she pulled open the closet door and dove inside.

After a while, Jiang Wen finally opened the door.

Seeing her brother’s cheeks red enough to drip blood, Jiang Yunyun was puzzled and looked into the room: “What’s wrong with you? Taking so long to open the door.”

Jiang Wen stood stuck in the doorway, not letting go of the doorknob, steadying his voice: “Nothing, I just finished showering, I was getting dressed.”

Jiang Yunyun didn’t suspect anything and informed him: “At five o’clock later, we’re going out for a bit.”

“Going out for what?”

“The company’s annual meeting is in a few days, mom ordered some clothes for you, you’ll try them on later.”

“Mm, got it.” Jiang Wen nodded.

Before leaving, Jiang Yunyun suddenly asked: “Is there someone in your room?”

He feigned calmness: “No one.”

The closet was very large, and Feng Ning sat on a pile of clothes and pants, breathing nervously, anxiously eavesdropping on the movement outside.

After a while, the closet door was pulled open.

Backlit, Jiang Wen looked sickly, terribly uncomfortable. He looked down at her and said: “Get out.”

Feng Ning slunk out sheepishly.

An indescribable strange atmosphere spread between them. Even though Feng Ning had thick skin, she was still a girl after all.

At this moment she didn’t know what to say. Her gaze fell somewhere distant, her mouth dry, hesitating: “Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone about what happened today.”

Jiang Wen’s breathing gradually grew heavy: “Who else would you tell?”

She awkwardly guaranteed: “Really, I won’t tell anyone.”

Afraid he wouldn’t believe her, Feng Ning raised three fingers to her temple, not feeling particularly ashamed: “I swear, everything I just saw, I will definitely forget as soon as possible.”

Jiang Wen didn’t look at her, his slightly long eyelashes hiding his eyelids, casting a shadow. He took a deep breath.

Who knew her next words would almost make him spit out blood in anger again.

“—I’m worried I might get a sty.”
