Xu Miyu saw that Ji Feng had put his foot down, and breathed a sigh of relief. After making sure there would be no more broken glassware, she got up to grab some tools, came back, and nimbly cleaned up the pieces of the glass on the floor and wiped the water stains off the floor.

When everything was done, she stood in front of Ji Feng again. Ji Feng no longer had that impulsive ferocity, but the aura and emotions lingering around him were still bad.

Xu Miyu didn’t know how to ask to leave at this moment.

She found a gentle, soothing tone that wouldn’t make any noise, and softly asked, “Does President Ji have vexing issues too?”

Ji Feng looked up at her as she spoke. The disgust and distress in his eyes caused by the previous phone call had not yet dissipated.

That disgust stunned Xu Miyu. It was exactly the same as the initial disgust Ji Feng had when he first saw her. At that time, he had always thought she was a stupid woman who refused to let go despite knowing her husband was cheating, and so he was extremely disgusted and repulsed by her.

“I’m not bothered,” Ji Feng said after looking at Xu Miyu for a while. “What’s the point of me being bothered in her stead when she doesn’t even bother herself?”

While he said he wasn’t bothered, his tone betrayed him. He was clearly more than just bothered – he was also very irritable and annoyed.

From the voice that had spilled out of Ji Feng’s phone earpiece just now, Xu Miyu had heard some clues. Combining that with Ji Feng’s previous attitude towards herself, she roughly grasped a silhouette regarding what Ji Feng had just contradictorily claimed to not be bothered by.

Perhaps it was that Ji Feng’s father had another woman outside, yet his mother stubbornly clung onto an unfaithful husband and a marriage that had already lost its original form and refused to let go, lost in her persistence to the point of gradually losing herself.

“If you feel that she doesn’t bother herself enough, have you tried…” Xu Miyu paused and adjusted her tone to a gentle and harmless one that wrapped around the relatively sharp question she was about to ask, “Have you tried not just looking on from the sidelines with sarcasm and disgust at her problems? Maybe if you went to her side and shook her forcefully, she might change?”

She tentatively explored while putting herself in the other’s shoes and combining her own previous situation, offering up suggestions.

Ji Feng looked at Xu Miyu without blinking. The mention of his family situation made Xu Miyu’s heart rise up a little. She didn’t know if what she had just said, even wrapped in a gentle tone, had somewhat overstepped.

Amidst her uneasiness, Ji Feng finally spoke, “I’ve shaken her before. It was useless.”

Xu Miyu let out a breath in relief. She then wrapped another sentence in a gentle tone and sent it from her lips, “Then try shaking her again?”

“I’ve shaken her many times.”

“Then on top of that foundation of many times, shake her again forcefully,” Xu Miyu said as she looked at Ji Feng, her gaze sincere and earnest to the point where she could feel her chest inflating as she took a deep breath. “I had also only sobered up after being shaken awake many times.” When she talked about herself, her voice was as light as a feather gliding through the air – an existence with no attacking force whatsoever, only gentleness.

Ji Feng gazed at her without blinking. Then he suddenly asked, “Who was it that woke you up time and time again?”

Xu Miyu was dumbfounded. She had thought he knew she was talking about him.

“It was you!”

Ji Feng was astonished. “Me? When have I shaken you awake time and time again?”

Xu Miyu nodded. “Every time previously when you couldn’t stand to watch my personality or situation any longer, you would give me a heavy verbal lashing to wake me up a little. That last time in the rain on the balcony on the second floor, what you said was the heaviest, and that shook me wide awake.”

Ji Feng was dumbfounded for quite a while.

During those times, he had simply been disgusted by her and hurled abuse at her. Yet in her perspective, those were instances of him shaking her awake time and again.

“I didn’t have the intention of shaking you awake from your plight. All those previous times, I was simply purely disgusted by you, to the point where I had no desire to say anything nice to you.”

Xu Miyu nodded. “I know.”

Ji Feng was even more astonished. “Are you a masochist? You know, yet still feel that I was helping you regain clarity?”

Xu Miyu smiled. “Sometimes, doesn’t waking someone up require heavy hammers made of unpleasant words to hammer the confused person awake? Over at your mother’s side, you could try shaking her without any leeway like how you did to me back then.”

She paused for a bit, tilting her head in contemplation as she organized her speech to clearly express her thoughts, “Perhaps in the past, it was because the way you did your shaking still had some room to maneuver, which allowed her to constantly have hopes that she shouldn’t have. If your attitude towards your mother was also as decisive, sharp, merciless, and left no room nor leeway like it was towards me, perhaps it might allow your mother to thoroughly wake up as well – who knows?”

Ji Feng watched Xu Miyu speak, watched her slightly tilted head as she seriously pondered, watched her shallow smile as she wholeheartedly tried to resolve his worries.

He gave her a very long look, a look so long that it felt like something in his chest was roiling and churning.

More so than waking his mother, her previous words seemed to first wake him instead, making him want to self-reflect for the first time –

Previously, he had looked down on Xu Miyu for being unable to cut ties from her terrible family. Yet how was he any different himself?

Perhaps the extreme disgust towards Xu Miyu he had harbored previously was a transference and projection of his own self-hate.

Looking back at his own family, perhaps the reason why his mother could always retained a flicker of undying hope for his father was right here in himself – his mother always felt that as long as he was present, his father would return to the family sooner or later.

Yet he had never decisively cut off his mother’s mentality, and so she could always give rise to hope amongst the rotten mud in her heart.

When it came down to it, he should have been the first to cut ties from this deformed, rotten family. Only then could his mother sober up from her delusions of “The father will eventually return for the son’s sake.”

He now felt like he knew what he should do.

Tomorrow, he would call his mother and clearly tell her – he wanted to thoroughly cut ties with that rotten family, and with that father who had long lost the qualifications of one.

Between him and Ji Shengming, his mother could only choose one. If his mother still tried to get him to win his father over, he would also thoroughly cut ties with her.

He hoped that this heavy hammer blow could jolt his mother awake and get her to stop using her son as a tool to reclaim her husband at the expense of hurting others.

Having steeled his resolve, Ji Feng looked at Xu Miyu again. Still an exceptionally long look.

In that look, it seemed as if he had understood this woman anew.

His heartbeat quickened inexplicably for some reason, quickening almost to the point of palpitations.

Xu Miyu felt somewhat numb and tingly on her scalp from Ji Feng’s continuous unwavering stare. Amidst her loss on how to react, she could only smile at him.

Upon seeing her smile, Ji Feng’s eyes suddenly narrowed.

“Don’t smile at me like that,” he suddenly said in an awful mood. “As if trying to seduce someone.”

This time, it was Xu Miyu’s turn to stare dumbfoundedly at Ji Feng, full of bewilderment.

They had been chatting quite sincerely just earlier. She had been wholeheartedly wanting to comfort him. Yet for some reason, he had suddenly flipped his attitude, even finding faults with something as minor as her smiling.

She felt somewhat speechless. Since provoking him was clearly not wise, she should avoid him if she could. Hence, she said to Ji Feng, “President Ji, why don’t you get Miss Jiang to accompany you later. I have some matters tonight and will have to leave soon.”

Ji Feng instantly raised a brow, also raising the pitch of his voice. “Who’s whose boss here? How have you started arranging my schedule? Even deciding who I do and don’t ask for?”

Xu Miyu felt a burst of evil fire suddenly appear in Ji Feng’s words, scorching her. She had been kindhearted earlier in wanting to dissolve some of his troubles, yet he was the one flipping his attitude at her for unfathomable reasons.

She felt a spark of unhappiness in her heart and subconsciously became somewhat stubbornly silent.

Sensing that he had been overly aggressive in tone just now, Ji Feng softened his attitude as he asked again, “What matters do you have tonight?”

Xu Miyu still had an unhappy expression as she looked at Ji Feng. Still somewhat stubbornly, she truthfully answered him, “I’m going to the ‘Night Rendezvous’ nightclub.”

As Ji Feng looked at Xu Miyu’s expression and demeanor, she had a very special charm in her stubbornness. It was as if she was somewhat annoyed and trying her best to hide it, yet unable to fully do so and allowing some of it to seep through. That seeming yet uncertain annoyance actually appeared even more tempting than her smile just now to Ji Feng.

And since she deliberately brought up the “Night Rendezvous” nightclub, it made him instantly recall that night where, forsaking all identities between them, they had boldly drank together at the same table.

Ji Feng gazed at Xu Miyu without blinking. Xu Miyu also looked back at him, with what seemed to Ji Feng like a somewhat tempting hint of annoyance.

Amidst their interlocked sights, he suddenly became vigilant. “You’re deliberately saying this to try to get me to go with you to ‘Night Rendezvous’, aren’t you?”

After Ji Feng finished speaking, he noticed that the way he said “Night Rendezvous” seemed to vaguely contain some innuendo –

To go to “Night Rendezvous”, and to rendezvous in the night. To go to “Night Rendezvous” and rendezvous with the Ji Feng and other persona Xu Miyu of that night.

Upon hearing Ji Feng’s words, Xu Miyu was dumbfounded to the point of speechlessness. How could he have understood her words so incorrectly?

She told Ji Feng very seriously, “I really don’t have the intention of asking you along. Please, I implore you to definitely not go!”

Seeing Xu Miyu so solemn in her denial to the point where it resembled her swearing an oath, Ji Feng temporarily dismissed his suspicions. Yet, he was still unhappy about just letting her leave like this. He didn’t know why, but today he just felt like keeping her here a while longer – he simply didn’t wish to be alone in this spacious suite.

He shrugged, imagining that he heard the creaking protests of exhaustion from his joints. Then he started finding an excuse to get Xu Miyu to stay.

“My shoulders and back hurt. Do this – come over and massage me a bit before leaving.”

Xu Miyu still had unhappiness that hadn’t yet dissipated in her heart. She truthfully refused, “I don’t know how to massage.”

“Not knowing professional massages doesn’t prevent you from kneading randomly, right?” Ji Feng was unexpectedly uncompromising for once.

Xu Miyu still wanted to decline. “Then let me contact the recreation department and have them send a staff technician up to you.”

Ji Feng disdainfully laughed. “Them? Their bit of skills doesn’t even amount to random kneading.” After a pause, his expression darkened as he stopped the bargaining and commanded, “It has to be you. Hurry up and come over to massage.” And as if delivering an ultimatum, he continued, “If you massage well, I can consider letting you leave earlier.”

Xu Miyu sighed upon hearing this. For the sake of being able to participate in the gathering on time tonight, she conceded and agreed to massage him for a bit.

She walked over to the sofa and gestured for him to lie prone on it.

Xu Miyu then rubbed her hands and said, “Here I come.” After speaking, she stiffened slightly. Her tone just now really contained hints of flirtatiousness between couples.

This was a habitual line she often said before massages to her ex-husband. Despite already having gotten divorced, the habits were still buried in her subconsciousness. So when a similar scenario appeared, it came out automatically without her noticing.

Ji Feng also turned his head back and looked at her in astonishment. He was also dumbfounded by the flirtatiousness, simple-minded softness, and suggestive nature of her tone.

Xu Miyu didn’t know how she should explain herself. Saying “Sorry, just now I subconsciously mistook you for my ex-husband” seemed inappropriate; saying “Apologies, that was a tone from a speech habit buried in my subconscious” also felt rather strange.

Since explaining clearly was impossible, she might as well gloss over it.

Xu Miyu pressed her hands onto Ji Feng’s shoulders and directly pressed him back down prone.

She then silently started kneading with effort.

Not long after she started pressing down, she heard Ji Feng subtly yet indistinctly grunt out.

“Am I using too much strength?” She hurriedly asked.

“Liar!” Ji Feng’s voice was muffled between him and the sofa cushions, making it sound hollow and stifled. “Weren’t you the one claiming to not know how to massage? You should clearly understand yourself just how skilled your technique is – it’s better than any technician downstairs at the recreation department!”

Ji Feng irritably said.

Xu Miyu’s massage technique was both soft and flexible. She always delivered power when strength was needed, and delivered comfort at spots that required soothing. Everything was done just right, feeling so comfortable it almost left one feeling giddy.

As Ji Feng felt the comfort spreading and permeating from his neck and back under her kneading, he resentfully thought to himself – Xu Miyu must be trying to deliberately tantalize him with this hard-to-get approach. From that coquettish, tender, suggestive “Here I come” earlier, to her claiming to not know how to massage yet the moment she laid hands on him, her techniques almost made him moan out from her seduction.

So he laid there prone on the sofa, feeling some strange sense of intoxicating pleasure and comfort yet gritting his teeth and resisting admitting this pleasure.

But when Xu Miyu’s hands pressed down near his waist, he inhaled sharply, finally no longer able to endure things.

He fiercely sat up from the sofa and grabbed onto Xu Miyu’s hands.

Those two hands that had just been tormenting him.

He looked at Xu Miyu. Xu Miyu also blankly looked back at him.

As their sights intertwined, both their breathing seemed to intensify. Xu Miyu seemed to hear the clearly audible “thump thump” sounds of her quickened heartbeat. There seemed to be scalding electric currents crackling between his palms that grabbed her and her confined wrists.

When she next spoke, she noticed her own voice contained hints of hoarseness and trembling. She asked Ji Feng, “Wha…what’s the matter, President Ji?”

Her voice seemed to jolt Ji Feng awake.

He let go of her hands in one motion. His entire being seemed to turn somewhat confused and irritable.

“No more massaging,” Ji Feng let go of Xu Miyu’s hand and impatiently said, “You can leave now, hurry and go, hurry to your bar.”

— Just stop trying by all means to seduce him here! All this heartfelt chatter then laughing, deliberate tantalization then tender probing.

Upon hearing this, Xu Miyu was as if she had heard a general amnesty. She hurriedly bid President Ji goodbye, then almost bolted away in her leaving.

After running out of the suite, she stopped while leaning against the corridor wall. She discovered her own breathing had become short.

She raised her hand and slapped herself once on the cheek, slapping away some feelings and thoughts that should not be breeding. Then after taking a deep breath and calming herself, she headed into the elevator.

In the suite, the vexation Ji Feng had finally managed to pacify after the initial heart-to-heart with Xu Miyu had now inexplicably and extremely returned.

She was truly detestable! Insisting for no reason to have a heart-to-heart with him, and even deliberately steering the conversation into his heart.

Insisting for no reason to smile at him like that! Doesn’t she know how good she looks smiling like that? Which man could endure a woman smiling at them like that?

Insisting for no reason to speak to him in that strange tone.

Insisting for no reason to massage in that seductive manner.

Yet still claiming she wasn’t trying to seduce him to go to “Night Rendezvous” together! Even the way she ran off was similarly tantalizing – the way she trotted off made one want to chase after her.

She really was a scheming wicked woman. What benefit was there in seducing him? Seducing him wouldn’t lead to any possibilities between them. He would absolutely not take her bait and become emotionally moved.

Absolutely not possible!

After Xu Miyu left, Ji Feng vigorously tidied his own emotions and thoughts. After tidying for quite a while, he felt he had reasoned things out for himself – he would absolutely not become vexed again because of that woman who was always seducing him.

But soon he discovered that not only was he still irritated, feelings of loneliness, boredom, and irritation at being alone had even started to spread.

Under the pressure of these emotions, Ji Feng subconsciously picked up his phone, wanting to find something from it to distract himself.

But he had read the news and finished planting crops on his farm game. There were no messages he wanted to send anyone. The moment he picked up his phone he didn’t even know what to do to pass time.

Amidst his immense boredom, he saw his hotel management work group chat.

He suddenly thought, as the boss he should send some New Year red packets in the group to everyone.

Previously, he would always get Xue Rui to help handle this kind of thing for him after Xue Rui finished his vacation. Usually he seldom even looked at this group chat, with Xue Rui filtering out the effective information for him.

But now he was desperately wanting something to do, and so took the initiative to enter the chat himself and personally sent out red packets.

He successively sent many maximum value red packets in the group chat. At first, no one dared to snatch them until Xue Rui took the lead, snatching a red packet and sending all kinds of “Thank you boss” emoji packs. Only then did everyone else daringly snatch up the red packets as well, also sending various stylized “Thank you boss” emoji packs after getting one.

Very quickly, the screen started madly scrolling with messages, each new message appearing even quicker than waves hitting the shore.

Ji Feng tapped into the group profile to check the members.

He remembered this group should consist of department heads and above.

As he browsed, he saw Xu Miyu’s profile picture.

Indeed she was also in the group as expected.

He retreated back to the group chat interface. His fingers started continuously scrolling backwards, returning to the point he originally sent the red packets.

Then he slowly filtered through screen by screen, wanting to see if there were any “Thank you boss” messages from Xu Miyu.

Finally, after flipping through several pages, he saw Xu Miyu had also sent an animated emoji pack of a little person continuously bowing and saying “Thank you boss”. That phrase seemed to contain an audible voice – the same tender, soft-spoken tone as the “Here I come” from earlier.

Ji Feng’s heart involuntarily skipped a beat. He almost threw his phone away.

He firmly grasped his phone again as his eyes swept down the screen. Abruptly, he saw the HR department had specifically tagged Xu Miyu after she appeared, wishing her a happy birthday.

Below that was Xu Miyu replying with a thank you to her.

As Ji Feng looked at this back and forth, he became somewhat blankly dumbfounded.

So it turned out today was her birthday.

So she going to “Night Rendezvous” was probably to celebrate with her friends.

So it turned out she really wasn’t trying to get him to go together… it turned out she was genuinely going herself to celebrate her own birthday.

For some reason, upon this realization, Ji Feng instead felt even more irritated than earlier when he had answered his mother’s call, or when he had been in the afternoon.

He felt so irritated he didn’t even want to eat or drink anything. Irritated to the point where he directly grabbed his coat and strode out the door.

The more she didn’t let him go to “Night Rendezvous”, the more he instead wanted to go encounter her there.

After Ji Feng arrived at “Night Rendezvous”, he directly asked the server to call for the boss.

When Li Qiaoqi saw Ji Feng, she was not too surprised at first, thinking he had just come to relax and have fun over the New Year break. But upon hearing he came looking for Xu Miyu, Li Qiaoqi became very shocked. Her facial expression was as if she had seen an alien.

She had wanted to first ask Xu Miyu if she wanted Ji Feng to join their gathering since he had came for her.

But after a bit of thought, she figured she shouldn’t be the only shocked one here – there were at least two other people in the private room who she also wanted to see wearing that “as if they had seen an alien” shocked expression.

And so she brought Ji Feng over to the private room she had specially prepared. Inside were a group gathered of Xu Miyu’s former classmates and the birthday girl herself, as well as…

Li Qiaoqi brought Ji Feng into the private room. She clapped loudly several times, letting the sound most similar to slapping fill the noisy room.

Everyone looked towards the entrance.

While the other classmates were only somewhat confused when seeing the person Li Qiaoqi brought in, Xu Miyu was completely dumbfounded.

Beside her, Xue Rui was also truly shocked stiff.

Especially Xue Rui. During this New Year break private gathering, he would never have expected to encounter his boss so suddenly. For a time he inexplicably felt very guilty, as if having been caught doing something bad.

Ji Feng also saw Xue Rui. He was also surprised for a bit. The person who usually followed behind him actually appeared at this gathering before himself?!

Xu Miyu had actually called him over without calling Ji Feng himself?!

Ji Feng strangely felt somewhat betrayed. That feeling of betrayal even brought about some disgruntlement.

He looked towards Xu Miyu.

Xu Miyu hesitated for a bit before standing up.

Ji Feng clearly saw she had once again become the other persona Xu Miyu today.

She wore clothes today that were completely different from her normal style as well.

A sleeveless, form-fitting camisole along with a skirt that accentuated her slim waist and hips.

Instead of long wavy hair draped over her shoulders like last time, she had bundled them up loosely into a hair knot this time. Wisps of hair draped softly over her temples and neck. Under the light they seemed like floss, exuding charm on their own.

When she stood for him, her bearing was gentle and graceful. A unique allure spread out, one that teenaged girls could not emulate – the sweetest, most mature of charms.

For a time she seemed to not know how to greet him. As her red lips softly parted, they revealed some lost, bewildered charm. Ji Fen felt this other persona Xu Miyu was also deliberately or unintentionally seducing him.

Her classmates beside her also disengaged from her. They turned questioning Li Qiaoqi instead, “Qiaoqi, why don’t I recognize this person? Is he also our former classmate?”

Li Qiaoqi dismissed that person’s words with a wave of her hand. “You drunk? Our class didn’t have someone so handsome. He’s Miyu and Xue Rui’s—” She had wanted to say boss, but was interrupted by Ji Fen.

“—Colleague.”

Li Qiaoqi turned to give Ji Fen a look. Xu Miyu and Xue Rui also looked over at Ji Fen.

Ji Feng once again affirmed his own status. “I’m their colleague.”

The former classmates immediately became enthusiastic. One rather forward person had already stood up and familiarly grabbed Ji Feng’s arm, wanting to pull him into their circle and invite him to drink, chat, and eat with everyone.

Seeing someone thoughtlessly touching Ji Feng, Xu Miyu and Xue Rui, who both understood Ji Feng’s temperament, simultaneously gasped.

Xu Miyu deeply feared her initial reaction of Ji Feng roaring at her after she touched his suit for the first time would replay here. By then things would become very awkward for everyone present.

She was extremely anxious and nervous. She stared unwaveringly at Ji Feng’s expression, observing any changes.

She also clearly saw Ji Feng’s face darken after the man placed his hand on Ji Feng’s arm, fiercely knitting his brows as if about to erupt at any moment…

But the next second.

Ji Feng’s eyes happened to meet Xu Miyu’s own.

Seemingly seeing the unease and worry in Xu Miyu’s eyes touched something in him.

He unexpectedly endured it this time, unexpectedly managing to repress his urge to flare up.

And so he astonishingly allowed that enthusiastic male classmate pull him along until they finally reached the table.

Xu Miyu and Xue Rui exchanged looks with each other, then hurriedly walked over. They flanked either side of Ji Feng, blocking off others from touching him further.

After Xue Rui sat down, he immediately softly asked Ji Feng, “Boss, why have you come? And boss, you actually didn’t fly off handle just now. That’s so incredible!”

Ji Feng also softly asked him in return, “What about you? Xu Miyu called you over?”

Xue Rui shook his head. For some reason, a bashful red flush gradually crawled up his face. “Jiejie said tonight was Jiejie Miyu’s birthday and wanted everyone to drink together. She asked if I would come, so I came.”

Upon hearing this explanation, Ji Feng strangely felt more comfortable.

Then he turned his head to stare at Xu Miyu.

Xu Miyu also looked his way.

As their eyes met, Xu Miyu asked him, “Why have you come?”

In such a close distance, he clearly saw her face didn’t have the slightest trace of makeup at all. Her skin had a natural glow. Her lips were also naturally soft and moist.

How was she so dazzling to the point where she seemed so eye catching even without any makeup?

Ji Feng didn’t answer Xu Miyu’s question. Instead, he asked her in return, “You called Xue Rui over?”

He wanted to confirm who had called Xue Rui here. And that damned competitive streak of his.

Xu Miyu considered – who exactly could be counted as the one that called Xue Rui over? It was because she noticed Li Qiaoqi’s feelings towards Xue Rui. So she had gone with the flow and hinted for Li Qiaoqi to call Xue Rui over under the excuse of her own birthday in order to create opportunities for them.

Looking at it that way, the crux of it was still her that called Xue Rui over, right?

She answered Ji Feng, “Mm, I was the one that called him over.”

Ji Feng narrowed his eyes as his tone chilled. “You could call him over yet not call me too?” Moreover, she clearly knew he was also alone up on the top floor.

Xu Miyu was thoroughly baffled by Ji Feng overturning right and wrong on her. She even abandoned polite addressals and directly switched to informal pronouns. “Yet this afternoon at the top floor suite, you clearly said I was trying by all means to seduce you to ‘Night Rendezvous’. If I still called you along after you said all that, wouldn’t I be admission to your baseless allegations of me seducing you? Wouldn’t I be dumb to be so eagerly going along with being found guilty?”

The nightclub suite’s lights were dim and fragmented. When shone on Xu Miyu’s face, it illuminated her vivid, authentic indignance that gave her an unconscious charm.

Gazing at her like this, Ji Feng was unexpectedly at a loss for words for a time and left speechless.

At that moment, the former classmates, having caught one-sided snippets, started clamoring for details. “What seducing? What’s the situation? We want to hear too!”

Xu Miyu immediately became terrified, afraid her classmates would assume something was going on between her and Ji Feng. They didn’t know Ji Feng’s status and dared to unrestrainedly clamor. But she clearly understood in her heart – flowers indicating anything going on could not bloom between the esteemed Ji Feng high up in the air and her, a mere sprout in the mud. She hurriedly diverted this crisis, “Ask Qiaoqi and Xue Rui instead, who’s trying to seduce who.”

The crowd instantly had their attention diverted, starting to focus their interest on interrogating Li Qiaoqi and Xue Rui instead.

Xu Miyu silently breathed out in relief.

When she turned her head, she suddenly met Ji Feng’s gaze.

He was subtly yet closely watching her.

She tried her best not to seem weak as she looked back, even deliberately putting on some defiance as she asked, “President Ji, just what exactly have you come here for?”

Ji Feng pinched up the empty wine glass on the table, swayed it twice, then called to the server to bring some top-grade red wine over. He then poured wine into both his own and Xu Miyu’s glasses.

After pouring, he pinched his own wine glass and gently swirled the wine as he answered Xu Miyu’s previous question, “I was bored waiting up at the top floor alone, so I came out.” He pinched his wine glass and lightly clinked it against Xu Miyu’s in an elegant, restrained manner. “To celebrate your birthday with you for a bit.” He looked at her eyes and lifted the corners of his lips as he smiled at her and uttered, “Happy birthday.”
