Xu Miyu watched Ji Feng come over to lift her onto the bed, then begin rummaging all around the room—through drawers, wardrobes, storage cabinets, even checking the safe.

When he returned to the bedside, he had a massive armful of all kinds of chocolates.

With a sweep of his arm he scattered the chocolates onto the bed like rain.

Seeing all the chocolates, Xu Miyu was both shocked and delighted. Looking up at Ji Feng she asked: “How come you bought so much chocolate?”

Ji Feng deliberately put on a cold face and arrogantly stated: “I happened to pass by them when on my business trips and picked some up on impulse.”

Xu Miyu rummaged through the pile of chocolates and selected a few kinds. Holding them up to Ji Feng she refuted: “Don’t lie to me! These few kinds aren’t all available in the same place. And they’re hard to find unless you go looking specifically for them. If you ask me, whenever you travel to a new place you deliberately seek out and buy local chocolates because I love eating them!”

As she spoke she unwrapped a piece and popped it into her mouth.

Sweetness instantly melted over her tongue, the saccharinity intoxicating, with one bite sweetening straight to the heart.

Xu Miyu smiled brightly at Ji Feng.

Her smile caused Ji Feng’s restraint to shatter in an instant. He pushed her down, sealing her lips and slipping his tongue inside to retrieve the sweetness lingering inside her mouth.

The chocolate blended into the crevices of their intertwined lips and teeth, casting them into dizzy infatuation.

Outside the wind and rain had diminished. Quiet was restored to the room. Xu Miyu and Ji Feng held each other in their arms.

Embracing her with his head buried at her neck and her chin tucked on his shoulder, Xu Miyu placed a palm against Ji Feng’s chest, right over his fiercely pounding heart. In a soft, gently husky voice she asked what he had wanted to say to her.

Ji Feng’s warm breaths caressed her neck. “I already told you in the underpass—you’ll have to take responsibility for me for the second half of my life.”

Xu Miyu lightly thumped him. “That was an impromptu line wasn’t it? I want to hear the original.” Her tone was at once petulant, reproachful, coquettish and tempting, softening Ji Feng’s bones and melting his spine.

He lifted his head from her neck to gaze down at her face from above.

He raised a hand to stroke her flushed cheeks, looking into her eyes. Unable to resist any longer, he lowered his head to kiss her once more.

Entering her again, he murmured next to her ear in that magnetic voice what he had always wanted to tell her:

“Xu Miyu, I love you. Will you date me again with marriage as the end goal?”

Xu Miyu trembled from head to toe. She agreed with both body and soul.

The next morning Xu Miyu awoke nestled in the crook of Ji Feng’s arm.

Opening her eyes, she suddenly met Ji Feng’s intent gaze fixed on her face.

She couldn’t help lifting a hand to hide her face.

Ji Feng pulled her hand down, teasing her: “It’s not our first time together, how can you still be bashful as a young maiden? Or could it be you know I’m fond of that, so you deliberately cater to my preferences?”

Instantly Xu Miyu was no longer shy. She raised a hand to swat his chest.

Ji Feng chuckled lowly while embracing her tightly.

Xu Miyu asked: “What were you staring at me for? Staring until you woke me up.”

Expecting more teasing, she was surprised when Ji Feng instead composed himself and said solemnly: “When I opened my eyes and saw you this morning, I was suddenly fearful again. It occurred to me—what if yesterday’s storm had truly taken you away? What would I do?”

He held her securely, tone heavy and earnest: “Listen Xu Miyu, from now on you have to be sure to live well, live vigorously, you must die after me, understand?” After a pause, caressing her hair and back with his other hand, his tone softened into profound emotion. “If you were to die first… What would I do without you?”

Xu Miyu’s heart tingled and ached at his words, utterly moved.

Gazing into his eyes she said: “If I die before you then you should find another, someone perfect, pure and beautiful.”

Ji Feng seemed agitated at once. He warned her: “Don’t speak nonsense.” Stroking her face, his thumb gently tracing her cheek, he told her solemnly like a confession or oath: “No one is more pure or perfect than you. I don’t want anyone else, only you.”

His words immediately sparked another wave of passion between them, the morning having just begun.

After resting a day, the next day Xu Miyu went to check on room arrangements with the front desk for the guests attending Duan Aoxiang’s event.

She had just finished discussing business and was about to leave when she was waylaid by Ke Wenxue who had been lying in wait outside the front desk office.

Aside from Ke Wenxue there were a few others present. They herded Xu Miyu into a corner at the end of the corridor.

Seeing their behavior Xu Miyu found it funny, as if they possessed some earthshattering gossip to share with her.

“What did you drag me over here for?” Xu Miyu smilingly asked.

Ke Wenxue mysteriously leaned in close and said: “Sister Miyu, shockingly juicy gossip! Have you heard? Last night around midnight President Ji carried a woman back in the pouring rain, and took her straight up to the top floor! Stayed there all night without coming down! Too flabbergasting—turns out there’s actually a woman able to spend the night in President Ji’s room!!”

Xu Miyu’s heart lurched. She couldn’t help feeling a little guilty. Were they intercepting her to talk about this? Then did they already know that the woman taken upstairs and kept overnight was her…?

“We’ve all been closely watching since yesterday, dying to see what that mystery woman brought down from the top floor looks like. But no one managed to spot anything!” Ke Wenxue regretfully said.

Xu Miyu quietly breathed a sigh of relief, surreptitiously letting down her guard. It seemed they still didn’t know the woman was her.

Yin Xiang also excitedly chimed in: “Do you guys remember that Miss Jiang from back then, who was suspected of maybe having a chance with President Ji? Rumor goes she deliberately sprained her ankle, trying every trick to get President Ji to carry her upstairs, but our utterly clueless President Ji still went and got her crutches so she had to walk herself!”

Everyone laughed and agreed: “We remember, that became the talk of the entire hotel at the time!”

Ke Wenxue followed up: “That’s why I’m saying this woman from last night is so amazing—Miss Jiang tried everything she had and still failed to get President Ji to carry her even one step, yet he personally scooped this woman straight upstairs! It’s obvious he treats this woman exceptionally differently. Ahhh I’m dying to know her identity! How could she have President Ji so infatuated that he’d make such an exception for her?!”

Though Xu Miyu hadn’t thought anything of it earlier, hearing them speak this way made her inwardly feel sweet delight. It did seem Ji Feng treated her remarkably unlike anyone else, exceptionally so.

Suddenly grabbing Xu Miyu’s hand, Ke Wenxue said: “Sister Miyu, right now we’re extremely curious to know who this woman is. President Ji looks at all the female employees here like wooden posts—you’re the only one he holds in some esteem. So you definitely have a better chance of finding out who she is before the rest of us. When you do, you must tell us! We’ll gossip together about hitting riches!”

In her heart Xu Miyu wryly thought: That woman is me after all.

She and Ji Feng had already agreed that morning—outside the premises they wouldn’t conceal their relationship, but to avoid work impact within the hotel they would continue an underground affair for the time being, waiting for the appropriate timing to eventually make the relationship public.

So she pulled her expression taut and nodded properly: “Alright.”

During lunch break, Xu Miyu originally wanted to quickly grab a bite at the cafeteria before returning to the office to continue working. But Ji Feng wouldn’t allow it, calling her upstairs again.

Xu Miyu complained: “Aren’t we being a bit too reluctant to part?”

Ji Feng impatiently said: “I already said we might as well take another day off today and just nest in the room without going out. Yet you insisted on working.” He suddenly pulled Xu Miyu by the shoulders, asking seriously: “Xu Miyu, answer me truthfully, are you currently more concerned with work or with me?”

Xu Miyu deflected skillfully: “The work I care for isn’t that your industries? So ultimately I still care about you.”

Ji Feng’s expression relaxed, but his tone remained stern: “Don’t think I can’t tell you’re just coaxing and deceiving me. I’m simply letting you get away with it without fussing.”

Xu Miyu couldn’t resist a puff of laughter.

She just found it so amusing how domineering presidents in love would say the softest words with the harshest tones.

They ate lunch together.

After eating, Ji Feng still wouldn’t let Xu Miyu return downstairs. He pulled her to sit on the sofa: “It’s not work hours yet, what’s the hurry going down so early for?”

Xu Miyu said: “There’s still some work left incomplete for Duan Aoxiang’s event.”

Ji Feng immediately scoffed: “His event just needs scraping by to handle.”

Xu Miyu teased: “If the event turns out badly later, won’t that still tarnish your reputation?”

Ji Feng impatently said: “Duan Aoxiang really has nothing better to do, coming here to hold some event.”

Xu Miyu laughed and told him: “Because he likes you.”

Ji Feng had been drinking water and nearly choked.

“What nonsense?” He said crossly wiping his mouth.

“I’m telling the truth.” Afraid Ji Feng might choke again, Xu Miyu swiftly changed topics. Spotting the tablet laying on the sofa, she picked it up and handed to Ji Feng saying: “Here, do your farm harvest.”

But Ji Feng directly put the tablet aside instead.

“?” Xu Miyu asked puzzled: “Aren’t you going to farm?”

Ji Feng told her: “No more farming from now on, I won’t do it anymore in the future. But I’ll still continue the agriculture assistance charity.”

Xu Miyu was baffled to the point her brows quirked up high: “Didn’t you persist at it for over ten years already? How can you so casually say you’ll stop just like that?”

Ji Feng pulled her into his embrace peering down at her and said: “Because I’ve found something even more worth committing lifelong without breaks – persisting unceasing daily just like before. Even if its a boring matter.”

Xu Miyu asked uncomprehendingly: “What is it?”

Ji Feng gazed deep into her eyes: “Saying it bluntly in Chinese would be too cheesy. I’ll tell you in English.” Then he leaned to her ear, voice low and magnetic: “This thing is – Love you every day.”

Xu Miyu’s heart and chest rumbled loudly in tandem. His light breath sent massive ripples pulsating through her heart.

Her face burned as if on fire. She buried herself against him, lightly hitting him while laughing and scolding: “English is still too cheesy, cheesiness overload!” Then she wrapped both arms tight around his back saying: “But I like it.”

Ji Feng’s chest heaved slightly. He chuckled deeply.

“If you find it cheesy then tell Master Qi and his son. I’m just enlightened by their life mentorship – to directly express anything without repressing it for seeming cheesy.

He pulled her from his embrace to look her in the eyes: “Their family made me understand people should cherish the present and cherish those before you while still alive.”

Having said so, he lowered his head to kiss her lips, gently swirling.

With eyes shut, Xu Miyu thought to herself – right now she felt utterly blissful.

On the day of Duan Aoxiang’s event, Xu Miyu discovered many attending guests overlapped with those at the gala banquet, some even bringing wives. Hence many had seen Xu Miyu before, a few even involved in mocking her.

Upon knowing, Ji Feng wanted to go pound Duan Aoxiang. But Xu Miyu promptly stopped him.

“He definitely did it on purpose,” Ji Feng said indignantly. “How could he not know some of them gave you trouble back then!”

Xu Miyu persuaded Ji Feng: “This event itself targeted the capable and wealthy to begin with. Overlap with the gala guests is inevitable, can’t definitively call it intentional. And isn’t it best to stand back up from where I fell? Letting those who once looked down on and mocked me see how I am at work – isn’t that an chance for me to prove myself?”

Ji Feng looked at Xu Miyu, gaze shifting from surprise to approval.

“Very well, you have indeed changed.”

“Become more beautiful and self-confident?” Xu Miyu asked smiling.

Ji Feng pressed an affirming kiss to her forehead.

At Duan Aoxiang’s event, Xu Miyu orchestrated every detail start to finish.

From reception to check-in to meetings to dining, she corresponded smoothly with all departments for every link, ensuring the attending VIP guests obtained the best experiences.

Upon checking in, these VIPs discovered their room arrangements weren’t standardized copies but tailored specifically catering to their individual preferences.

Xu Miyu had assigned tasks to subordinates, instructing them to thoroughly understand basics and preferences of each attending esteemed guest beforehand.

Hence the fruit placed in the rooms suited each person’s special tastes. The flowers were also selected and arranged according to favorites of the guests and their wives. Pillow height and firmness also aligned with each guest’s daily inclinations. For dining, balanced nutritional pairings were emphasized, personal dietary restrictions carefully accounted for each attendee.

With Xu Miyu overseeing the entire proceedings, the event progressed steadily.

Occasional sudden situations still cropped up during meetings. But just as everyone would grow anxious, Xu Miyu could swiftly provide contingency plans prepared beforehand, rapidly resolving each unexpected incident.

She had backup contingency plans thought up in advance for every link – she practically already envisioned all possible issues and risks for each section and readied more than one resolution approach.

With many foreign guests participating, when interpreters were overwhelmed, Xu Miyu would readily step in herself as needed to help translate.

She conducted herself with poise, event planning and execution capable and smooth, services leaving people feeling pampered. Adding the bonus of her language translation, her excellence and abilities continuously revealed themselves before everyone throughout.

Those previously doubtful “how could Ji Feng find a woman like her” now changed perspectives to “Ji Feng truly knows how to assess people.”

Some madams who mocked Xu Miyu before still felt somewhat sour she managed to get tied to someone out of her league like Ji Feng. But by now even they had to admit this woman Xu Miyu did have some skills.

Ultimately the entire event ended perfectly.

Xu Miyu felt she reached a whole new level in mentality and abilities.

So when Ji Feng tentatively told her the high society gala would have another new event soon, then asked her: “Shall we participate this time?”,

Xu Miyu smiled full of confidence this time, telling him: “Why not go? Let’s take part.”

Stepping once more into that world of extravagance and decadence brimming with big shots and tycoons, Xu Miyu held Ji Feng’s arm without shaky steps anymore, fully at ease inside.

She told Ji Feng to freely go chat business, not needing to mind her. Ji Feng seemed uneasy, worried those gossiping madams might gang up to bully her again.

But Xu Miyu just laughed telling him: “No one can bully me now, don’t worry. Go take care what you need to, come find me when done.”

So Ji Feng left. Though still not assured, he didn’t actually go far. Just hiding around the corner keeping an eye on Xu Miyu.

A few unfamiliar madams sized up Xu Miyu, then huddled whispering: “I wasn’t here last time to see the fuss. Heard she’s the divorcee Ji Feng took up with? Luck sure smiled on her managing to hook up with Ji Feng. Looks like they still haven’t split so far either. Just what could Ji Feng see in her eh?”

“She’s definitely lucky alright. Also heard she embarrassed herself last time here yet still dares to show her face again without shame. This woman sure has thick mental fortitude.”

Hearing such, Ji Feng immediately wanted to stride over. But an arm held him back.

Glancing over, it turned out to be Duan Aoxiang.
