January 8th. At the charity banquet.

Xu Si followed Xu Heng Yu to their seats. Shen Yu Chun and Liang Jie Ran were with them. He wore a white bespoke suit with a crystal brooch. The young man was already handsome, with phoenix eyes that were narrow and slightly upturned, sharp features, a high nose bridge, and thin lips. The well-fitted suit made his legs look even longer, making him quite eye-catching in the crowd.

This charity banquet was hosted by the Yun family, who rivaled the Xu family in A City.

Yun Jia Nian looked at the boy in a small suit in Xu Heng Yu’s arms: “This must be your son? How adorable.”

Xu Heng Yu pinched Liang Jie Ran’s cheek and said: “Say hello to Uncle Yun.”

Liang Jie Ran obediently greeted: “Hello, uncle.”

Yun Jia Nian’s gaze fell on the woman in a black dress and the indifferent young man behind Xu Heng Yu: “This must be your wife? Mr. Xu, you’ve kept her hidden well – I haven’t seen her once in all these years.”

Shen Yu Chun wore one of only two such dresses in the country. The black dress perfectly outlined her flawless figure, with a tasteful V-neck showing her excellent cleavage. She wore a pink diamond necklace on her delicate collarbone, with wavy hair falling to her shoulders. She looked nowhere near forty.

Xu Heng Yu put his arm around Shen Yu Chun’s shoulder and smiled at Yun Jia Nian.

“This must be the Xu family’s eldest son? He’s quite handsome.”

Xu Heng Yu glanced at Xu Si behind him, maintaining a faint smile: “He takes after his mother.”

Only in looks could they be compared.

Xu Si politely greeted them and left the crowd, finding a place to sit.

The banquet was very lively. Almost everyone in their circle had come.

The young man sat alone in the corner, neither drinking nor socializing, seeming out of place.

“Want a drink?” Xu Si looked at the girl who walked over and shook his head: “No, thank you.”

“May I have this dance?” Xu Si just shook his head.

Almost as soon as she came in, Yun Zhao Zhao was drawn to the young man in the corner. He carried an air of cold detachment, his features were flawless, with an excellent nose bridge. Watching him reject girl after girl mysteriously triggered her desire to conquer.

She brushed aside several boys who had gathered around.

“Want a drink?” Xu Si didn’t even look up: “No.”

Yun Zhao Zhao sat beside him with her wine glass.

Xu Si was still looking down playing Happy Eliminator.

Yun Zhao Zhao didn’t know what he was so intently playing, and leaned over to look.

Happy Eliminator.

She’d never seen someone attend such a banquet just to sit in the corner playing Happy Eliminator.

Xu Si turned off his phone and inconspicuously moved aside: “Do you need something?”

Yun Zhao Zhao flipped her hair and gave him a sweet smile: “May I have this dance?”

She had a sweet face type, wearing a pink puffy dress today with a pearl bracelet on her wrist.

“No thanks.” Xu Si said and prepared to go back to his game.

Yun Zhao Zhao pretended to twist her ankle and was about to fall on Xu Si, but he dodged backward.

This was the first time he’d seen such a cheap trick.

Yun Zhao Zhao fell to the ground, looking embarrassed, and spilled wine all over Xu Si.

She was the princess spoiled by the Yun family. Looking at the young man’s indifferent expression, she felt inexplicably angry. She stood up and looked down at Xu Si arrogantly: “I was about to fall, why didn’t you help me?”

“Weren’t you the one who fell on purpose?” His underlying meaning was clear – you fell on your own, what’s it got to do with me?

Yun Zhao Zhao was furious. She was used to being flattered by men, everyone indulging and pampering her for both her looks and family background. This was the first person to speak to her this way. She pointed at Xu Si: “How dare you speak to a girl like that?”

“You weren’t pushed by me, and you fell on purpose, didn’t you?” Xu Si just crossed his arms and looked at her, expressionless.

Having been exposed, Yun Zhao Zhao’s face reddened with anger. She demanded: “Which family’s son are you? How can you be so ill-mannered? Has no one taught you proper etiquette?”

“Sorry, actually no one has.”

Xu Heng Yu noticed the situation and excused himself to come over.

Yun Zhao Zhao maintained politeness toward the elder: “Uncle Xu.”

Xu Heng Yu nodded to her: “What’s wrong? Zhao Zhao, did Xiao Si upset you?”

Hearing “Xiao Si,” Yun Zhao Zhao figured out that Xu Si must be Xu Heng Yu’s son who had never been brought out before. Probably not the favored one.

Yun Zhao Zhao said coquettishly: “Uncle Xu, he’s so ungentlemanly.”

Without asking what happened, Xu Heng Yu looked at Xu Si, dropping his previous faint smile, and spoke almost like giving an order: “Apologize to Zhao Zhao.”

Xu Si looked at him, seeming to find it amusing. He said “Oh” and then spoke: “I’m sorry, it’s just that I don’t like helping people who fall on purpose.”

He left after saying that.

Yun Zhao Zhao’s face turned green with anger, though she had to maintain a polite smile.

Xu Heng Yu caught up with Xu Si.

Xu Si glanced at him: “What?”

“When I tell you to apologize, are you deaf or brainless? I was hoping to arrange a marriage alliance with the Yun family, but you’ve ruined it all.”

“Didn’t I apologize? Are you hard of hearing? My ‘sorry’ was so clear – should I use a megaphone to shout it inside?”

Xu Si continued, looking at him: “If you like that Zhao Zhao so much, you can consider marrying her yourself. I’m not interested.”

“Xu Si, what nonsense are you talking about, you ill-mannered thing.”

“Yeah, born but not raised, of course I’m ill-mannered. You’re right.”

Hearing his words, Xu Heng Yu raised his hand to slap his face.

Xu Si caught his hand and chuckled: “Mr. Xu’s hands are so precious, better not damage them.”

He then threw off Xu Heng Yu’s hand.

Xu Heng Yu met Xu Si’s gaze, somewhat flustered: “You unfilial wretch.”

“Mr. Xu is filial, didn’t even return to see his own mother when she was seriously ill. I should learn from you.”

He continued: “I came as you asked, and did everything else you said. If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving. Remember what you said about having your people leave.”

“What makes you think I’ll listen to you?”

Xu Si looked at him: “Don’t you still want someone to assist Liang Jie Ran? Have your people get lost, give me back my house, and I’ll help you assist Liang Jie Ran in the future. Otherwise, I don’t mind going down together with you.”

“You’re still too naive, Xu Si. You can’t beat me.”

“Oh.” Xu Si ignored him and left on his motorcycle.

But he knew his path ahead wouldn’t be easy.
