Just by opening the window, Jiang Qiao could see Xu Si waiting downstairs. Like every time before, he would only leave after making sure she got home safely.
…
In the private room, the group was wild with drinking games. Yang Shi Kun and Hao Ming had already been made to drink several glasses.
Yang Shi Kun lost another game.
“Drink! Drink! Drink!” Lin Tian Shi’s face was red as he pointed at the glass.
Li Cheng Jun also called: “Drink up!”
Yang Shi Kun was already feeling dizzy. As he picked up the glass, Hao Ming took it from his hand and told the others: “He’s not good with alcohol. I’ll drink for him.”
Whether it was bad luck or something else, Yang Shi Kun kept losing, and Hao Ming kept drinking in his place.
Seeing Hao Ming pick up another glass, Yang Shi Kun grabbed his hand: “You’ve had too much. I’ll drink it.”
Hao Ming held his hand firmly: “I’m not drunk yet. I’ll drink.”
Yang Shi Kun watched him down another glass, feeling restless, but Hao Ming’s grip was too tight to break free. He leaned against Hao Ming and moved closer: “Big Head, how can you drink so much? I’m already dizzy.”
The warm breath tickled Hao Ming’s ear. Seeing Yang Shi Kun’s flushed face, he squeezed the back of his neck: “It’s fine.”
Yang Shi Kun sat to the side, feeling woozy, the world spinning. He waved at the others: “I’m dizzy, can’t drink anymore, can’t drink.”
He then leaned on Hao Ming’s shoulder to watch the others play.
Hao Ming shook the black cup in front of him and looked inside. Yang Shi Kun was about to call out a number when Hao Ming covered his mouth: “Eight fives.”
After going around, Lin Tian Shi challenged Hao Ming’s call. Hao Ming opened his cup to show four fives. Others opened their cups, totaling twelve fives.
Lin Tian Shi picked up his glass: “I’ll drink.”
Yang Shi Kun watched Hao Ming shake the dice and call numbers. He hardly ever lost, and several people around them had gotten sick from drinking.
When Xu Si opened the door, several people were already drunk. Only Hao Ming, Lin Tian Shi, and Li Cheng Jun were still playing.
Li Cheng Jun lost again, and after drinking his glass said: “Can’t drink anymore, can’t drink anymore.”
Lin Tian Shi was dizzy, shook his head, and recognized who came in: “Young Master Xu is here.”
Yang Shi Kun looked at Xu Si, flashing a silly grin before falling back against Hao Ming.
Xu Si sat next to Yang Shi Kun.
Yang Shi Kun covered his mouth and smiled at Xu Si: “Brother Si, I think I can see two of you, two…”
Xu Si asked Hao Ming: “How did he get this drunk?”
The three of them sometimes had beer together in summer, and Yang Shi Kun was a lightweight, getting drunk after just a few drinks.
Hao Ming said: “Before you came, we were playing games and he kept losing.”
“No wonder.”
Yang Shi Kun kept grinning at Xu Si, giggling non-stop.
Hao Ming turned to look at him: “Stop laughing, get some sleep.”
“I’m not…” Yang Shi Kun said before falling against Hao Ming again.
Seeing Yang Shi Kun’s head about to fall, Hao Ming steadied it against his shoulder.
Xu Si said: “I’ll play too.”
Xu Si and Hao Ming ended up getting everyone else drunk.
Xu Si stood up: “Let’s call it a night, time to go.”
He called a server: “Wake them up later.”
“Okay.”
Xu Si paid with the card Xu Heng Yu gave him, then left with his things.
Hao Ming helped Yang Shi Kun out of the room. As soon as they got downstairs, Yang Shi Kun started retching. Hao Ming quickly guided him to a trash can where he threw up for a while.
Xu Si asked Hao Ming: “How much did he drink?”
Hao Ming thought for a moment: “Six or seven glasses. I drank the rest for him.”
Xu Si looked at Hao Ming, who showed no signs of being drunk: “Watch him, I’ll get some sobering soup.”
“Okay.”
Hao Ming had just answered when he saw Yang Shi Kun crouching by the roadside. He helped him up: “Can you stand steady?”
“Not drunk.”
Hao Ming looked at his red face and dizzy state: “Don’t believe you.”
Xu Si quickly returned with sobering soup, and they watched Yang Shi Kun take a few sips.
“Taking him home is impossible,” Xu Si said, looking at the drunk Yang Shi Kun.
Hao Ming thought for a moment: “Brother Si, your place isn’t convenient. I’ll take him to mine.”
Xu Si looked at Yang Shi Kun who was practically hanging on Hao Ming: “Alright, I’ll call a car.”
“No need, Brother Si, I’ll call one.”
“Already done.”
Xu Si watched them get in the car. Yang Shi Kun opened the window and grinned at Xu Si: “Bye-bye, Brother Si.”
“Bye-bye.”
Only after they left did Xu Si open his phone to call a car for himself.
Yang Shi Kun fell asleep in Hao Ming’s lap during the ride. When they arrived, Hao Ming patted his face: “Wake up, we’re here.”
He helped Yang Shi Kun out of the car: “Can you walk?”
Yang Shi Kun couldn’t walk straight anymore. For some reason, he suddenly stopped in front of a utility pole and gazed at it intensely, starting to mumble.
Hao Ming looked at him: “You’re drunk.”
“Not drunk.”
Hao Ming took out his phone to record a video to show him tomorrow.
Yang Shi Kun hugged the pole, still mumbling, calling it “brother” repeatedly.
Hao Ming walked up to him: “Ready to go? Finished talking with your pole brother? Can we leave?”
Yang Shi Kun: “Just a few more words.”
Hao Ming stood watching him.
Yang Shi Kun patted the pole: “I’m going, brother.”
Hao Ming: “Want to leave a mark so you can find your brother tomorrow?”
Seeing Yang Shi Kun staring blankly at the pole, worried he might actually do something in his drunken state, Hao Ming said: “Just kidding, let’s go.”
Yang Shi Kun crouched down again: “Can’t walk, dizzy.”
Hao Ming crouched in front of him: “Get on, I’ll carry you back.”
“No way, I’m not a girl, why should you carry me back? I don’t want to.”
“Choose one – piggyback or I’ll carry you in my arms. You can’t even walk straight.”
Yang Shi Kun climbed onto his back and held tight around his neck.
