Chapter 47: I Don’t Mind

Jiang Rong looked up, meeting Xu Si’s gaze. She stared at him for a moment before looking away. Xu Si noticed her slightly pink ears – the little prude was really easy to make shy.

The line dispersed. Some boys from the class took basketballs to the court.

Luo Xing sat beside Jiang Rong, looking at the bag she was carrying: “Going to deliver water later?”

“Mm-hmm.”

Jiang Rong handed another drink to Luo Xing.

“Thanks, Rong Rong.” Luo Xing took several gulps, feeling refreshed and revived. “Seems like our class is playing basketball with other classes today. Want to watch?”

“Sure.”

Luo Xing noticed she still had two bottles: “Why do you have another one? For Shen Mo?”

Jiang Rong nodded obediently: “Yes, she gave me candy again today.”

Sure enough, Shen Mo was at the fence watching the basketball game. Jiang Rong handed her the room-temperature water: “For you.”

Shen Mo was surprised as she took it: “Thanks, I was just about to buy some.”

Jiang Rong made a sound of acknowledgment and stood beside her.

Xu Si turned his head and saw her giving water to others. It suddenly bothered him. The little prude was so helpful, bringing water for three people at once.

A boy nearby passed the ball to Xu Si. He made a layup in three steps, the ball smoothly entering the hoop. Girls around them screamed.

The young man seemed to radiate light.

Shen Mo excitedly grabbed the fence and asked Jiang Rong: “Isn’t he handsome?”

Jiang Rong nodded: “Yes.”

The leader of Class 20 gave a signal, and several people started targeting Xu Si. Yang Shikun was violently bumped by another boy and fell to the ground.

Xu Si dodged several people and made the shot, then looked at Yang Shikun: “What happened?”

“Brother Si, they bumped into me.”

A thin boy spoke up: “They bumped me too, several times.”

Another boy added: “Me too.”

Hearing this, Xu Si’s expression instantly turned cold: “We agreed Class 20 and Class 17 would just have a casual game, with the official match in a few days. What’s the meaning of this?”

Li Huan smiled innocently: “Brother Si, it’s basketball – small collisions are normal.”

Xu Si looked at Yang Shikun behind him. His legs and arms were scraped badly, and his arm might have been dislocated.

He told Hao Ming: “Take him to the infirmary first.”

Hao Ming helped Yang Shikun up: “Yang Dog, can you walk? Yang Dog.”

Yang Shikun grimaced in pain: “Damn it, Hao Ming, I’m dying here.”

Hao Ming and another boy helped Yang Shikun leave.

Li Huan chuckled: “Just a little bump, Brother Si won’t be angry, right?”

Other boys from Class 20 were afraid of Xu Si, but not Li Huan. Like a newborn calf unafraid of tigers, he had just transferred and didn’t understand why everyone feared Xu Si. At his old school, he hadn’t feared anyone. Xu Si didn’t look that strong, just a bit fierce-looking.

Before he could say more, Xu Si kneed him in the stomach and grabbed his collar: “I’m warning you, play basketball properly, don’t play dirty under my watch.”

Li Huan’s face turned liver-colored with pain. He rubbed his stomach and, when Xu Si wasn’t looking, raised his fist to strike back.

As soon as he threw the punch, Xu Si caught his fist and twisted his arm around. Li Huan grimaced in pain and begged: “Let go, my arm’s going to break.”

Xu Si released his hand but then punched him hard in the face, knocking him to the ground. Xu Si crouched down, grabbed his collar, sneered, and threw another punch. His expression was cold and fierce: “Don’t make me say it twice.”

Those who knew Xu Si in Class 17 knew he was truly angry.

The leader from Class 20 came to smooth things over, helping Li Huan up: “Brother Si, he’s new and doesn’t know better. Don’t be angry.”

Xu Si just glanced at him, his voice cold: “Keep your class in line.”

A friendly match ruined by one bad apple from Class 20.

The boy licked his lips, not daring to ask Xu Si if they should continue playing. Xu Si usually looked fierce, and he had just beaten someone up. Many girls had left early, afraid of a fight breaking out.

Luo Xing tugged at Jiang Rong’s sleeve: “Rong Rong, maybe we should leave… in case they start fighting.”

Shen Mo crossed her arms and walked up to the Class 20 leader: “If you’re playing basketball, just play basketball. It was supposed to be friendly – these tactics are meaningless. Don’t say we’re from the same class.”

The leader, Song Dengying, had liked Shen Mo since first year. Though he was tall and strong, Shen Mo preferred Xu Si’s type. She had chased after Xu Si for a year without getting a glance.

Song Dengying smiled awkwardly, scratching his head: “It was definitely our class’s fault this time.”

Shen Mo: “Of course it was our class’s fault.”

She continued: “I had bought water for all of you, but now I don’t want to give it to you.”

The Class 20 boys perked up: “You bought water? Where?”

Shen Mo spoke fiercely: “You still dare to drink it?”

They all looked at Li Huan, blaming him.

“One bottle per person, take it yourself.”

Shen Mo took out a bottle and offered it to Xu Si: “Everyone gets one, will you have one too?”

Xu Si didn’t even look at her, walking past.

He saw Jiang Rong at the door – when told to deliver water, she really had waited obediently for him to come out.

Xu Si felt something indescribable rise in his heart. He walked up to her: “Where’s my water?”

Jiang Rong quietly handed him the water.

Their fingertips briefly touched. Xu Si found her fingers very cold: “Are you stupid? The bottle’s so cold and you kept holding it?”

Jiang Rong looked at her hand and explained seriously: “I thought you’d come out soon.”

Xu Si was silent for a moment, feeling it was his fault: “I’ll come out earlier next time. Got any tissue, little prude?”

Jiang Rong took out a tissue and handed it to him.

Hearing him call her “little prude,” Jiang Rong bit her lip and suddenly spoke as he was about to wipe his face: “I think I used that one.”

Xu Si: “I don’t mind.”

Jiang Rong: “…”
