Jiang Qian’s ears turned slightly red, and after a while, she finally managed to say, “I like vegetables.”

Yang Shikun, being rather dense, naturally didn’t catch her meaning. “Eating vegetables is good! My mom always says I don’t eat enough of them.”

Xu Si chuckled lightly, “Yes, vegetables are good.”

“Brother Si, Scholar Jiang, enjoy your meal. We won’t disturb you anymore. Bye!”

“Alright.” Xu Si hung up the phone and met Jiang Qian’s gaze. “Since my little teacher cares so much about me, I should eat all these vegetables.”

Jiang Qian looked at him. “You said you’ll eat all of it.”

“I’ll eat everything.”

Jiang Qian had heard from Yang Shikun before that Xu Si never liked eating green vegetables, which was why she deliberately ordered a table full of them this time. As she watched Xu Si pick up the vegetables with his chopsticks and eat them happily, she began to doubt whether what she’d heard before was true.

Yang Shikun opened the door and poked his head in. Finding no one apparently there, he had just stepped in when he heard a voice: “You’re back?”

He was so startled he covered his face.

Xu Yan looked at him covering his face and said, “Come here, sit down.”

Yang Shikun’s heart was pounding, beating even faster than when he talked to pretty girls. Was this the calm before the storm?

As he walked into the living room, he was confused to see several people sitting neatly on the sofa. Why was his uncle’s whole family here?

Xu Zimu called out to him, “Cousin.”

Yang Shikun sat down beside him and whispered, “What’s going on? Why is everyone here?”

Xu Zimu just smiled.

Xu Qingchi spoke first, “Xiao Kun.”

Yang Shikun sat up straight and responded with a “Yes.”

“We have to thank you this time, Xiao Kun. Little Mu was being bullied at school for so long but never told us. He just said he didn’t want to go to school anymore. Your aunt and I had no idea what was happening.”

Xu Zimu held onto Yang Shikun’s arm. “Those bullies have already apologized to me and returned all the money they took from me.”

Yang Shikun finally understood and smiled, “It’s nothing.”

Xu Yan smiled, “Brother, this kid might like to fight, but he’s loyal.”

Xu Qingchi smiled and patted Yang Shikun’s shoulder, but before he could speak, Yang Shikun winced in pain.

“Those injuries on your face are from standing up for Little Mu, right?”

Yang Shikun nodded.

“Uncle will treat you to a restaurant meal today. Let’s go out to eat.”

As he spoke, Xu Qingchi secretly took out a red envelope from his pocket and slipped it into Yang Shikun’s pocket when Xu Yan wasn’t looking.

Yang Shikun felt the red envelope – it was quite thick. He grinned at Xu Qingchi, “Thank you, Uncle.”

His smile pulled at his facial injuries, making him grimace in pain again. This beating wasn’t for nothing – he got a red envelope and a good meal out of it.

After Xu Si and Jiang Qian finished eating, Xu Si remembered that Yuan Yuan was still hanging in the car. He unzipped the bag, and Yuan Yuan jumped out, diving straight into Jiang Qian’s arms.

“It’s gotten fatter recently. Let me hold it.”

Before Jiang Qian could speak, Yuan Yuan had already curled up in her arms, burying its head in her embrace.

Xu Si: “…”

“It’s fine, it’s not heavy. I’ll hold it.”

Xu Si and Yuan Yuan, man and cat, stared at each other for a moment before Yuan Yuan buried its big head back in Jiang Qian’s arms.

Xu Si: “…”

Xu Si thought: Maybe we should have cat meat for late-night snack.

He stared at the back of Yuan Yuan’s head, really wanting to pull it out of Jiang Qian’s arms.

Jiang Qian asked him, “You’re injured. Should you go back and rest early?”

Xu Si shook his head, “It’s fine, my legs are still working. Are you worried about me, little teacher?”

Jiang Qian’s ears grew hot at his teasing words. She looked up at him once and said, “No.”

Whenever Xu Si saw her expression like this, he always felt like he was bullying someone. His lips curved into a slight smile.

The night market was very lively, with many people coming and going. Colorful lights hung in the trees.

Jiang Qian walked ahead holding the cat. Seeing that Xu Si hadn’t followed, she looked back. Xu Si had wanted to take a photo of her back, but instead caught this moment – overhead were colorful lights, and below was a gentle girl with her hair in a high ponytail, wearing a faint smile, holding a little black cat.

“What are you doing?”

Xu Si raised his phone to show her, “I wanted to take a photo of your back, but you happened to turn around.”

Jiang Qian looked at the photo on the phone and smiled, “It’s a good photo.”

Xu Si put away his phone, “Of course it is.”

When the subject is beautiful, how could the photo not be good?

Passing by a pet supply store, Jiang Qian carried Yuan Yuan inside, with Xu Si following behind. Just as Xu Si was about to say he wouldn’t buy anything for it, he saw Jiang Qian seriously starting to choose items.

The shop owner looked at the somewhat fierce-looking but equally handsome young man beside her: “Taking your sister out for fun?”

Xu Si looked at Jiang Qian, then at the shop owner: “Yes, taking my sister out.”

“You siblings have such a good relationship.”

Jiang Qian, holding the cat, explained: “We’re not siblings, we’re classmates.”

The shop owner had a moment of realization: “Oh, boyfriend and girlfriend? My mistake.”

Jiang Qian’s ears turned red again as she shook her head: “We’re desk mates.”

The shop owner smiled: “Good friends then? No wonder, you look very close.”

Xu Si looked at Jiang Qian, wearing a slight smile: “Yes, we’re very close, right? Little desk mate.”

Jiang Qian made a sound of agreement, then picked up a blue piece of clothing and asked Xu Si, “Is this one okay?”

Xu Si looked at the blue clothes, then at Yuan Yuan: “I think it’s good.”

Yuan Yuan seemed to know they were buying clothes for it and started meowing excitedly.

Just as Jiang Qian was about to pay, Xu Si took the money from her. She turned to look at him and said, “I’m buying things for Yuan Yuan.”

Xu Si looked down at her, met her gaze, and returned the money to Jiang Qian.

Xu Si carried the small clothes they bought for Yuan Yuan and asked Jiang Qian, “Are you tired of holding it? Want me to hold it?”

Jiang Qian shook her head: “No need, it’s not very heavy.”

Since Jiang Qian was wearing a long dress today, Xu Si was worried about her falling if the motorcycle suddenly accelerated or decelerated, so he decided to call a car to send her home.

Xu Si protected her head as she got into the car. As soon as Jiang Qian sat down, she saw Xu Si holding the cat and getting in as well: “Why are you getting in too?”

Xu Si smiled: “To send you home.”

“You really don’t have to go to such trouble.”

“It’s no trouble.”

He escorted Jiang Qian to the entrance of her building.

Jiang Qian reminded him: “Don’t let the wound get wet, remember to change the dressing.”

“I know, little teacher.”

After saying this, Xu Si waved at her.

He waited until the light came on upstairs before leaving.
