“To be honest, if you wanted to see him, why didn’t you do it earlier? Why show up suddenly after so many years? Si is a person, not an object. He’s not something you can pick up and throw away whenever you want. He’s a good person, and he’ll be better off without you. So please, don’t appear anymore.”

Shen Yuchun gripped the thermos tightly and said, “I’ll wait for the day Xiao Si forgives me.”

After saying this, she left with Liang Jieran.

Yang Shikun was so angry he could almost see steam coming from his head. What was all this about? Why did she keep haunting Si like a ghost?

What was she being stubborn about?

Coming here with her current child, wouldn’t that just make Si more upset?

Hao Ming had probably figured out most of what was going on. He looked at Yang Shikun’s red face and said, “Don’t be angry.”

Yang Shikun replied helplessly, “Big Head, I’m really at a loss. Si’s stomach is already bad, and she keeps bothering him. He probably won’t eat lunch again.”

Hao Ming thought about what just happened and felt equally helpless. “I’m at a loss too, but let’s buy food first.”

……

“Jiang Top Student, can you help with something?”

Jiang Rong looked at him, somewhat confused. “What is it?”

Yang Shikun briefly explained the situation and said, “If I try to convince him, Si definitely won’t eat.”

After listening, Jiang Rong asked, “Where’s the food?”

Yang Shikun handed the food to Jiang Rong. “It’s up to you now, Top Student.”

“Alright.”

Xu Si was looking down at his problems, unable to focus on even one for a long time.

He was already troubled, and now he felt even worse.

Suddenly, someone pulled the book away from his desk. Xu Si looked up at Jiang Rong. “What’s wrong?”

Jiang Rong put the food on his desk. “Stop looking at problems, eat first.”

Xu Si met her gaze but didn’t speak.

“Your stomach isn’t good, you must eat. Be good.”

Hearing her say “be good” at the end, Xu Si felt like she was coaxing a child.

“I’ll eat.”

Only then did Jiang Rong smile, placing the food on his desk. “I’ll keep watch for the teacher later.”

“Thank you, little teacher.”

Yang Shikun saw that Xu Si was eating and felt relieved, then gave Jiang Rong a thumbs up.

Their top student really was the best.

Jiang Rong just smiled at him.

After Xu Si had taken a few bites, he heard Jiang Rong say, “I heard from Yang Shikun.”

Seeing him stop his chopsticks to look at her, Jiang Rong said, “Keep eating while you listen to me, the teacher will be here soon.”

“No one is completely a saint. I’m not that generous either. If I were you, I wouldn’t forgive her either. I wouldn’t even want to see her.”

“Is little teacher trying to counsel me?”

“Not really,” Jiang Rong glanced at him. “Well, maybe I am.”

“I feel comforted,” Xu Si said, making Jiang Rong smile.

“But don’t let it affect your mood too much and stop eating, okay?”

“Is little teacher taking care of me?”

Jiang Rong watched him eat and nodded. “Mm-hmm.”

“I’ll listen to little teacher.”

When Jiang Rong heard him say this, she felt a strange flutter in her heart.

……

During the lunch break nap.

Jiang Rong turned over in her sleep.

Xu Si stared at her profile for a long time.

Her skin was flawless, almost perfect. He could even see the fine down on her face.

After staring at her for a while, he noticed her eyelashes flutter slightly as if she was about to wake up. He quickly closed his eyes, pretending to be asleep.

……

The first afternoon class was with Teacher Fang Zixin. As soon as he entered the classroom, his face was beaming with joy. “Students, our class has finally surpassed Class 18. We’re no longer in last place!”

“Yay!”

“Haha, finally, we’re no longer eternally last!”

“That’s great!”

Fang Zixin looked at the students below: “Quiet, quiet. This is a good start. I hope everyone can achieve even better results in the final exams.”

“Yes!”

While Class 17 was jubilant, Class 18 was gloomy.

Class 18’s homeroom teacher said: “We can’t let Class 17 stay ahead of us. Are you confident about the next exam?”

“Yes!”

The next exam would be another battle between the eternal second-to-last and last place classes.

……

That evening.

It was already past eleven when Xu Si finished his last biology problem.

Looking at Jiang Rong still bent over her work through the camera, he didn’t want to disturb her.

When Jiang Rong finished her problems, she looked up and met Xu Si’s gaze. “Finished?”

Xu Si nodded. “Yes, but there are some problems I don’t quite understand.”

“That’s okay, I’ll explain them to you.”

As Jiang Rong explained the problems, Yuan Yuan perched on Xu Si’s shoulder, watching the phone screen intently without blinking.

After Jiang Rong finished explaining, Xu Si looked at Yuan Yuan. “Did you understand?”

Yuan Yuan meowed in response, as if saying it understood.

Seeing the person and cat through the camera, Jiang Rong couldn’t help but smile. “That’s all for today.”

“Thank you for your hard work, little teacher.” Xu Si said, then looked at the materials in his hand and told Jiang Rong, “I should be able to finish these books by winter break.”

“I’ll get you new ones then, the basic versions.”

“Okay.”

Jiang Rong looked at Yuan Yuan beside him, seeming hesitant. “Has it… gotten fatter? The clothes were a bit big when you first bought them, but now they seem to fit just right.”

Xu Si glanced at Yuan Yuan. “Indeed, it eats so much, we should rename it Pig-cat.”

Hearing him speak badly of it, Yuan Yuan squirmed around in his arms.

Jiang Rong laughed. “Eating more is good, being chubby is cute.”

Xu Si smiled. “You should eat more too.” When he had carried her to the infirmary before, she had felt almost weightless.

“Okay.”

Xu Si wanted to say more, but he heard what seemed to be a phone ringing on Jiang Rong’s end.

“Let me check a message.”

“Okay.”

After reading the message, she told Xu Si, “You go to sleep first, I just need to discuss something with him before sleeping.”

Without her saying who, Xu Si knew who “he” was.

He was very unhappy. “I’ll wait for little teacher to sleep together.”

Jiang Rong and Xia Chen’an roughly discussed their ideas. Many of their thoughts aligned, though they had some minor disagreements toward the end.

[Xia Chen’an]: I heard you ranked third in school again. Congratulations.

[Jiang Rong]: Thank you.

After sending this, Jiang Rong realized she had forgotten to end the video call.

She looked at the person and cat staring at her. “I’m done talking.”

Xu Si was still unhappy: “Okay.” Then he suddenly realized something and asked, “Do you usually video call when you talk to him? Am I getting in your way?”

His last sentence sounded a bit jealous.

Jiang Rong looked confused. “No, I’m not close with him. We just write down our thoughts to see each other’s reasoning.”

“So little teacher only video calls with me?”

“Yes.”

Hearing her answer, Xu Si’s lips curved into a smile, his mood greatly improved. “Time to rest, little teacher.”

“Goodnight, Yuan Yuan.”

“What about me?”

“Goodnight to you too.”
