Before the third game began, Chen Yuzheng walked to his position and turned back to call the referee.
The referee came over, “What’s the matter?”
“I have a request.” Chen Yuzheng casually picked up the juice at the edge of the table, “Can I replace my water with this?”
The referee was a bit surprised, took it to check, and nodded, “Sure, I’ll have someone find you a new cup to pour the juice into.”
…
…
With the headphones on, the noisy sounds from outside were blocked out. Only team communications remained.
“Hey, Conquer, who bought you this juice?” Killer suddenly asked.
Ultraman jumped in to answer: “Yu Nuo.”
Killer let out a long “Oh,” “She’s really nice to Conquer.”
Ultraman had a bitter expression: “You still have the mood to chat? We’re about to get 3-0’d by OG.”
“Don’t say such unlucky things.” Van scolded him, “We should at least make it a 3-1.”
Ultraman asked the coach: “Hey, if we lose, will all our sponsors leave? Will we still be able to play professionally?”
“Hey hey hey, watch what you’re saying.” Thomas reminded him, “This is being recorded, be careful it might end up in Hero Mic later.”
The coach walked back and forth behind them with his notebook, “Now you know to be afraid? Why didn’t you play properly in the first two games?”
“It was my fault.”
Chen Yuzheng’s hands were already on the keyboard, his expression blank.
The coach was silent for a moment, then sighed and advised: “Your individual skill isn’t worse than Fish’s. Play well, don’t be hasty. If things aren’t going well, just farm under tower. Stay steady. They can’t kill you in the early game, and they can’t control you in the late game.”
Chen Yuzheng lowered his eyelashes, “Got it.”
After the ban/pick phase ended, the coach walked off stage. The TG members encouraged each other, “It’s fine, just this one game, brothers, let’s go for it!!”
Killer also put away his usual playful smile, turned his head to look at Chen Yuzheng, “Yuzheng, don’t blame yourself, none of us played well, it’s not just your problem.”
Chen Yuzheng made a sound of acknowledgment.
…
…
Game Three.
At the start, OG was lying in ambush in the river, but they didn’t guess Van’s jungle path correctly.
TG’s top, mid, bot, and jungle all gathered, five people facing off against their four people head-on, erupting into a level one teamfight. The supports from both sides traded kills, both falling.
The two teams tangled from the river all the way to TG’s jungle. Killer’s ignite helped Chen Yuzheng get first blood. Soon after, OG’s top laner trudged through to join the main battle, but due to poor coordination on focus targets and being exhausted, they were chased down by Chen Yuzheng’s Ashe with two auto attacks.
The caster spoke rapidly: “Look, Fish’s Jhin was forced to use flash, it’s over, Roy is down too. OG is done for in this fight. Conquer is still chasing.”
“Ashe!!!! One, two!!”
Before dying, Van used his last ability to give his teammate the kill on the enemy mid laner.
A dramatic scene unfolded. Yu Ge and Chen Yuzheng went solo at red buff, both with barely any health, just standing there trading hits.
Finally, Yu Ge was taken down by Chen Yuzheng’s auto attack while reloading.
The level one teamfight ended with seven kills total, Chen Yuzheng securing a triple kill.
Even the caster laughed: “OG gave Ashe three kills in the level one fight, how is Fish supposed to lane now?”
Jun Hao: “Honestly, if I were Fish, I’d just go AFK.”
Because Chen Yuzheng was ganked too many times in the previous games, Van cleared his double buffs and immediately headed bot lane to protect their newly established advantage.
The minion wave had just reached the tower.
Chen Yuzheng used the wave advantage, directly turning on W and auto attacking, completely unreasonable. The enemy jungler was in top side, Van and the support gave all kills to Chen Yuzheng.
After killing Yu Ge’s bot lane duo again, he recalled on the spot, bought items, and came out with a B.F. Sword.
The chat comments:
[Holy crap, Ashe straight up got a B.F. Sword?? What’s Fish supposed to do now, might as well surrender at 15]
[If this was a solo queue game, I’d be camping fountain and flaming]
[Suggest going next game, don’t tilt Fish’s mental]
[Getting a B.F. Sword right out the gate in an LPL finals, am I seeing things??]
What followed was without suspense.
OG’s level one team wipe, Chen Yuzheng’s Ashe perfectly suppressing Yu Ge in lane early game, directly taking off.
OG’s top, mid, and bot lanes all collapsed, with almost no ability to fight back.
It was basically a perfect recreation of game one, just with the two teams’ roles reversed.
TG took one game back, MVP going to Chen Yuzheng’s Ashe.
…
…
Game Four.
Both TG and OG teams became much more cautious.
If TG made a mistake, they’d hand over the championship directly. If OG made a mistake, they’d have to play game five.
Often when matches go to the end, reaching game five is when players’ mentality is tested the most, some can’t handle the pressure and their mechanics even start to break down.
In the early and mid game, both teams farmed steadily.
When the game entered the later stages, all outer towers on both sides had been taken down.
All carry positions had basically completed their builds, with both sides’ economy being very close. Now respawn timers were too long – just one more teamfight could decide the victor.
The kill score was 10 vs 11.
Every spectator’s heart was in their throat.
TG’s jungle vision was constantly being pressured by OG. OG seized the opportunity while TG was recalling to regroup, quickly gathering in the jungle to sneak Baron.
Baron died very quickly now, TG couldn’t react in time.
When A Wen secured Baron with smite, the crowd started to cheer.
Using Baron buff, OG pushed minion waves and rotated, breaking two of TG’s inhibitors.
Victory was in sight.
The crowd couldn’t sit still, already starting to chant “OG”.
TG’s heroes cleared waves very quickly, grouping together to desperately defend their top inhibitor tower.
OG attacked several times but couldn’t break through.
Jun Hao got caught up in the excitement, couldn’t help shouting: “TG hasn’t given up!! They’re still holding on!!!!”
Through sheer willpower, TG managed to stall out OG’s Baron buff duration.
OG quickly discussed in team comms, deciding to recall and organize items before going for another Baron.
Super minions had reached the nexus towers, TG cleared the waves.
At this moment, Xiao Cha: “Hey hey, TG stopped clearing waves? They’re going for Elder Dragon!! Are they planning for one last desperate teamfight face to face?!!”
OG on the field also realized TG was going for Elder Dragon, but it was too late now. They could only rush towards Baron pit.
Jun Hao: “OG is doing it fast, 4000 health, they’ve got position. 1000 health!! 500 health!!!!”
Just then, TG who had finished Elder Dragon arrived.
OG feared having Baron stolen, deciding to deal with TG’s people first.
The carries from both teams engaged in intense kiting around Baron pit.
Jun Hao felt something was off: “OG shouldn’t take this fight, TG has Elder buff now, they definitely don’t have the advantage in a teamfight. Roy’s Corki is getting chunked pretty bad, hey hey hey, A Wen went for the backline!!! Conquer used Zhonya’s.”
After an intense exchange of fire, OG’s support fell first.
When Chen Yuzheng’s Zhonya’s ended, he instantly killed the enemy jungler.
Jia Wei shouted: “Conquer is still chasing!! Die, all of you!!!!”
The screen kept showing:
-TGConquer killed OGRoy
-TGConquer killed OGFish
-Triple Kill
-Quadra Kill
Jia Wei watched as Chen Yuzheng’s Tristana kept jumping, frantically slaughtering the low-health OG members: “Conquer got a quadra!!!! Make them all die, go!!! One push!!! “
TG team wiped OG at Baron pit, with an overwhelming push, directly destroying the enemy base to win game four.
—
The plot had many twists and turns, beyond expectations.
After losing the first two games, TG actually managed to tenaciously fight back two games. Both sides battled through four games, tied 2:2.
Everyone witnessed the rise of TG, this new star.
Just one final decisive game remained.
Before it began.
Caster: “Although TG are all rookies, their skill and mentality really can’t be underestimated, being able to forcefully take back two games from 0-2 down, pushing OG to the edge of the cliff.”
“This player Conquer, I’ve paid attention to his stats, in regular season, he has the highest average kills among ADCs, second highest damage per minute, and third highest damage share. This shows he’s fundamentally a very skilled player, and this finals has proved this point.”
Jun Hao: “Has there ever been a reverse sweep in League of Legends finals? Is TG really going to make history? Today’s final showdown is too exciting. A Wen is just one step away from his dream championship, and TG is also creating their own era!”
“Now neither team has a way back, hope they can both go all out without regrets.”
After a short break, players from both teams returned to the stage.
BO5, the battle anthem began.
Only matches that go to five games get to play the song of faith.
— “Silver Scrapes”
The battle song instantly ignited all spectators present. All fans started to boil with excitement when they heard this song.
Even those watching the livestream were the same:
[Battle anthem!!!! Every time I hear the battle anthem I get goosebumps!!!!]
[Wuwuwuwu, didn’t expect it to be this exciting, TG go for it!!!!!!]
[Conquer is this strong? Then no problem.]
[Come on, someone! Kill me to cheer them on!!!!]
…
…Game five, during the ban/pick phase, A Wen locked in his signature jungle Lee Sin as the last pick.
A jungle champion that wasn’t considered strong in this patch.
For this one game, he was betting everything, fighting with his back against the wall.
Just this one desperate chance. Even if he died, he would die without regret.
Perhaps after tonight, the ID “A Wen” would never appear in professional matches again. No one would remember him or mention him.
But at this moment, all spectators, everyone was cheering his name.
For this veteran who persisted until today.
For his courage to move forward even when he had nothing.
—
After taking two games in a row, TG’s morale soared.
They advanced strongly in the early game, using the advantage of two Mountain Drakes to steal Baron, leading by 4000 gold.
25 minutes 16 seconds.
OG was forced into a teamfight with TG at dragon pit, fighting 4v5. Due to item disadvantage, they lost the fight 2 for 5, with three inhibitors falling.
At thirty-five minutes, Baron respawned.
Four TG members were doing Baron.
Jun Hao tensely: “A Wen is here, hovering above, is he going to steal??”
Dragon’s health was already past half, as soon as the words fell, A Wen resolutely jumped into TG’s encirclement.
Before dying, he and TG’s jungler both used smite–
“Baron has 1300 health left, A Wen went in!! He stole it!!!! They got dragon!!!!”
Although A Wen stole Baron, he was instantly killed by OG’s members. The other two teammates covering him also fell shortly after. Before dying they traded for Chen Yuzheng and Ultraman.
After TG lost Baron, the remaining three members headed straight for OG’s base, working with super minions to destroy the nexus towers.
Only mid laner Roy remained for OG, rushing back with the newly respawned Yu Ge to defend. TG had just finished Baron and the small teamfight, their condition wasn’t good.
The two managed to repel TG’s members.
But OG’s side only had one naked inhibitor left.
A Wen stole Baron, OG successfully extended the game, using the buff to push back several outer towers and inhibitors, evening out the economy.
The game dragged to fifty minutes.
Jun Hao commented on the situation: “TG’s side is getting more and more exhausted, if this drags on their damage won’t be enough, OG might turn it around.”
Catching the moment when the enemy was recalling to buy items, TG started Baron for the third time.
OG reacted very quickly, seeing the enemy at Baron, a TP lit up in top lane.
Caster screamed: “Is Will going to backdoor?!!!! OG just needs to keep them occupied!! He’s destroying it very fast!!!!”
The other two lanes’ minion waves were applying pressure, Will was destroying the inhibitor.
TG was halfway through Baron, forced to go back and defend. However, just as they were about to retreat, Van’s Gragas was kicked back by A Wen’s Lee Sin.
Yu Ge followed up with damage, Van was instantly killed.
The venue erupted in shocking cheers, people started continuously chanting OG and A Wen’s names.
Xiao Cha spoke faster: “Conquer respawns in thirty seconds, it’s not enough time!!!! Will has started hitting the nexus!!!!”
Only three people, TG only had three people left. All were held up by OG’s members, Will was now unstoppable.
“One more hit, OG has it!!!!!!”
The moment TG’s nexus exploded.
The central big screen showed close-ups of each OG member’s small window, camera focusing on A Wen:
He covered his head and leaned back, seeming unable to hold back, already crying.
Caster Jia Wei was A Wen’s fan, his emotions overflowing: “A Wen once said he was a nobody, but fate doesn’t look down on nobodies, so all a nobody can do is fight with everything they have. Although cold reality always hits him hard, he will never bow his head to fate.”
“Six years, A Wen waited six years, in the spring of 2021 he finally waited for his championship!!!!”
After many twists and turns, OG finally defeated TG after losing two games. All team members took off their headphones, rushing to hug A Wen.
Several casters spoke simultaneously, offering sincere congratulations: “Then let us congratulate OG team for winning the 2021 LPL Spring Split Championship!!!”
The whole venue boiled over with cheers, golden confetti falling on the stage.
TG’s members sat silently at their computers, looking at the post-game stats panel.
Just a little more.
Just a little more.
OG’s people had already come over, shaking hands with them one by one.
After shaking hands, Chen Yuzheng lowered his head, packing up his peripherals on the table. Killer came over, patted his shoulder, “Let’s go.”
Going to the backstage through the side passage, Chen Yuzheng aimlessly looked around.
Music shook his eardrums, applause and cheers hadn’t stopped, the audience below waving their arms and shouting. But all the excitement wasn’t meant for TG.
…
…
Walking to the center of the stage, A Wen was already crying uncontrollably.
Very tacitly, none of the OG members had touched the trophy. Yu Ge finally smiled, pushing A Wen, “Lift the trophy.”
The dream trophy was right before his eyes, yet still felt unreal like a dream.
He won, he got the championship.
A Wen’s hands were shaking, speaking softly to Yu Ge: “Thank you, really, thank you.”
Everyone was waiting.
Waiting for the moment A Wen lifted the trophy.
Even a grown man in the venue couldn’t help crying.
He too was once a proud youth.
Ten years of drinking ice water, hot blood ultimately difficult to cool.
A Wen finally became the protagonist of the story.
