In the afternoon, a sudden heavy rain fell, accompanied by loud thunder. Ma Xuanrui was late packing her things at home. She hurriedly boarded the bus with her backpack, her feet still wet, nearly slipping again.

The school had arranged buses to take them to the military training location, one bus per class, for a two-week stay.

Arriving late, she found most seats were taken. Looking around, she saw a group of noisy boys playing cards at the back.

Ma Xuanrui frowned slightly and walked a few steps forward, suddenly stopping.

Xu Xingchun sat by the aisle, surrounded by a faint glow, wearing one earbud and looking lost in thought.

As their eyes met, a gentle joy bubbled up in her heart, followed by shyness and hesitation.

After deliberating in the aisle for a moment, she silently encouraged herself. Finally, she stepped forward and gently tapped his shoulder.

Xu Xingchun looked up, his thick eyelashes framing pale lips, his gaze falling on her.

“Um… is anyone sitting next to you?” Ma Xuanrui stammered.

“Hmm…” He paused, drawing out the sound.

Just then, an impatient female voice came from behind, “Hey, you’re blocking the way, sister. Move aside, quickly.”

Following Xu Xingchun’s gaze, Ma Xuanrui looked back. She saw a slender figure.

Not far away, Fu Xueli stood behind her, her eyes reflecting a glimmering light. She glanced at Ma Xuanrui and Xu Xingchun, coldly and impatiently repeating, “What are you standing there for? Make way.”

“Oh, sorry,” Ma Xuanrui said, embarrassed and confused, unsure how she had offended this young lady. She pressed her lips together, hugged her backpack tightly, and stepped aside.

As Fu Xueli passed by, Ma Xuanrui turned back, hearing Xu Xingchun’s calm voice, “No one’s sitting here.”

“Move over and give me a seat,” Fu Xueli kicked Song Yifan aside and sat down by the window next to him.

Song Yifan cried out, “What’s the deal? You’re all fired up today, Big Pear. Did you eat gunpowder or something?!”

In the row ahead, Xie Ci impatiently lifted the cap covering his face, crossed his arms, and turned around, his voice lazy, “Song Yifan, I told you to keep it down. I’m trying to sleep. How many times do I have to say it?”

This was terrible, everyone was taking their frustrations out on him!

Song Yifan felt wronged and shouted at the group of boys playing cards nearby, “Did you hear that? Ci Ge says you’re too noisy. He says he wants to sleep! All of you, stop playing!”

The innocent bystanders: …….

Summer rain comes and goes quickly. The bus wound up the mountain road, swaying. Most passengers were drowsy.

Song Yifan pulled down the curtain to block the harsh light. Bored, he chatted quietly with Fu Xueli, “Pear, look at this scorching sun. It’s so frustrating. What if I get tanned?”

Fu Xueli felt a bit carsick and didn’t want to talk much. “You’re already like this. How much darker could you get? Stop worrying.”

Song Yifan didn’t like her response. Thinking of a comeback, a thought suddenly struck him, “Right, right. No one’s as fair as Xu Xingchun. You’re fair, he’s fair, you two are the fairest.”

“You’re nuts.”

“You’re crude.”

Fu Xueli replied emotionlessly, trading insults, “Jerk.”

“I just don’t get it!” Song Yifan, born a drama queen, put on a pained expression quite convincingly, speaking earnestly, “Fu Xueli, I really don’t understand. What does someone as smart as Xu Xingchun see in you? Does he like that you’re all body and no brains? Or that you’re vulgar and crude?”

“Say that again?”

“I wouldn’t dare.”

“Can you not mention him?” Fu Xueli felt annoyed just hearing Xu Xingchun’s name. She punched Song Yifan irritably, gritting out, “He likes me because I’m pretty. Got a problem with that?”

Ten seconds later, Song Yifan laughed, “Well, maybe he just likes how uncultured you are.”

“Idiot.”

Fu Xueli was angry.

Of course, she was angrier at Xu Xingchun.

In such a short time, he had quietly hooked up with some girl in their class.

After a while, Song Yifan leaned over again, “Fu Xueli…”

“What?”

“I want to ask you something.”

Fu Xueli glanced at him but didn’t respond.

Song Yifan looked serious, his gaze earnest, “In your heart, who’s more important, me or Xu Xingchun?”

Fu Xueli wasn’t in the mood for his nonsense. She closed her eyes again, dismissively snorting, “Neither of you is important.”

After nearly three hours, they finally reached their destination, which turned out to be on a mountaintop. The conditions up there were best left unmentioned, but what really shocked everyone was –

There wasn’t even a place to stay! The only brick building was the infirmary.

Their first task was to set up their own tents to live in…

Although it was past noon, the heat hadn’t subsided, and the sun was still blazing. Fu Xueli hadn’t eaten lunch, and she already had low blood sugar. Being pampered, she would feel weak and break out in cold sweats whenever it acted up. After being in the sun for a short while, she began to feel unwell. Breathing heavily, her throat dry, her vision darkened and she couldn’t hear people talking.

Finally, she crouched in place for quite a while before recovering. Someone noticed her condition and helped her to the infirmary.

There was air conditioning there. Fu Xueli, half-conscious, lay on a temporary bed. Exhausted and uncomfortable, she fell asleep without realizing it.

Yao Jing, carrying a bunch of things in one hand, pushed open the infirmary door. She had cut her hand and was looking for something to disinfect it. After walking a few steps, she looked up and saw something that froze her in place.

A few minutes later, she finally reacted, covering her mouth and gasping, immediately retreating the way she came.

Oh my God…

Just now…

Wasn’t that guy the class monitor?

The student representative who spoke this morning!

He was actually…

Actually kissing Fu Xueli’s neck?!

Running a few meters away, Yao Jing hid around a corner, still in a daze, her mind filled with the intimate scene she had just witnessed.

With his back to the light, Xu Xingchun leaned over, his arms propped on either side of Fu Xueli’s ears, staring intently at her.

She was slightly curled up, her wrists hanging limply, seemingly still asleep.

At first, he just lightly touched her with his lips – forehead, eyelids, nose tip, chin… gradually moving down to her neck.

Inseparable.

Then he opened his mouth, biting and sucking.

His jawline was sharp, his Adam’s apple moving as he kissed.

He licked with the tip of his tongue, slowly and meticulously, over and over again.
