What is this? The allure of a uniform?
Looking at him, really looking at him. The moment Xu Xingchun took off his jacket, revealing his waist, Fu Xueli realized with just one glance that after all these years, she still had no defense against him.
Seeing him made her want to surrender completely.
If someone asked at which moment she first felt her heart flutter for Xu Xingchun, Fu Xueli would definitely answer: It was that year in middle school.
That year in middle school, she snuck out of P.E. class halfway through to go to the classroom. Just as she turned the corner of the staircase and stepped through the back door, she accidentally bumped into Xu Xingchun changing clothes at his desk.
His seat was in the back.
The ceiling fans in the classroom spun with a whooshing sound. He had his back to her, arms crossed, taking off his school uniform top. The muscles in his waist tensed, exposed to the air.
Her gaze slid from his neck, down his smoothly contoured back, to his waist. Then she repeated the path. Like some perverted peeping tom.
Feeling guilty, she forgot to breathe. She didn’t dare make a sound, nor did she want to look away.
In those years of growth when sexual awareness had not yet awakened, that was the first time Fu Xueli’s mind became curious about the body of the opposite sex.
Finally, Xu Xingchun sensed someone there. He quickly pulled his shirt over his head and turned his face to the side to look. Her eyelashes fluttered, and she took two steps back, with nowhere to hide. Meeting his gaze, she opened her mouth, her hand trembled, and she lost her grip. The water bottle in her hand fell to the ground.
It made a thud, and dust flew up.
It struck her heart.
Her actions completely escaped the control of reason. All the blood in her body rushed to her head. She impulsively pounced forward, opened her mouth, and bit down on his neck with her teeth, gripping his artery through the thin skin.
She felt Xu Xingchun place one hand at her side for support, while his other hand stroked her back, feeling every inch.
Almost her entire body sank into his embrace. Fu Xueli touched his slightly damp sideburns and asked, “Let me ask you something… If a civilian assaults a police officer, will they go to jail?”
Xu Xingchun lowered his body slightly, looking down at her intently. His eyes were like deep, silent pools as he said softly, “What are you talking about?”
“I’m saying police officers are too handsome… it tempts people to commit crimes. But… considering how uniquely handsome you are, if I have to commit a crime and go to jail, I accept it. It’s not such a bad deal.” Fu Xueli pulled back a little, turning her head slightly to look at him. Her eyes were misty, with a hint of sincere disappointment. “Officer, why haven’t you kissed me yet?”
She knew Xu Xingchun couldn’t handle this kind of talk right now, but she said it anyway.
After saying it, she gave him a sudden kiss.
One kiss wasn’t enough.
So she kissed him twice.
Let’s see how he maintains his composure now…
Sure enough, the consequence of her recklessness was having her arms easily pinned above her head by the police officer. Her waist was slender, hardly able to resist his grip. Fu Xueli shuddered, her legs kicking wildly with great effort. “Hey… Officer… what are you planning to do?”
Her jaw went slack, her voice so soft it could be squeezed like water.
Sometimes…
Asking a question you already know the answer to is also a form of flirtation…
His hand pushed her bra up.
Then he pulled the blanket over both of them.
With nothing hindering him from smelling her scent, he quickly lost his restraint. His hot breath fell on her neck as Xu Xingchun’s fingers unhurriedly touched her lips, then slid down to her shapely collarbones. “Open your mouth, put your arms around me.”
His voice was low and intoxicatingly pleasant.
Once again, she was successfully bewitched by his good looks. Since she had brought this on herself anyway, Fu Xueli felt lightheaded and resigned herself to embracing him.
From clarity to haziness, then being turned over again and again in a daze. After who knows how long, she was drenched in sweat and carried to the bathroom to bathe. After the commotion died down, she finally fell into a deep sleep. Exhausted from travel and jet lag, Fu Xueli was too tired and slept very heavily.
After dressing her in pajamas and patiently fastening each button, Xu Xingchun leaned against the bedside table, looking down at the sleeping figure.
He was shirtless and instinctively reached for a cigarette. After thinking for a moment, he gave up the idea.
It wasn’t until evening that she slowly woke up. She picked up her phone to check the time, then turned over to find no one beside her. Fu Xueli felt a wave of irritation. She put down her phone, struggled to get up, and wrapped in a blanket, searched the whole room for Xu Xingchun.
She kept calling his name.
Just as she pushed open the study door, he picked her up, blanket and all.
“Put your shoes on, the floor is cold,” Xu Xingchun said, placing her directly on the bed.
“Where did you go?” Fu Xueli was still annoyed and glared at him. “Every time I wake up, I can’t see you. It’s really frustrating, you know?”
He looked a bit stunned at her angry expression.
“Are you so busy that you have to deal with important national affairs one by one? Or are you cheating, sneaking off to flirt with someone else?!” Not satisfied with just saying this, she pounded the bed once more. “When I’m sleeping, can’t you just stay by my side? You’re either running off to the balcony to get some air or who knows where doing who knows what. Do you dislike being with me that much?!”
“Hey.” Fu Xueli saw Xu Xingchun remain silent for a while. “Why aren’t you saying anything? Are you deaf?”
After another moment, she realized her temper had gotten a bit out of hand and felt somewhat guilty. “Why are you just staring at me without saying anything? Did I say something wrong…”
Sighing lightly, Xu Xingchun chuckled and asked softly, “Do you want to sleep more?”
“You’ve made me too angry to sleep. Who could sleep now?” Fu Xueli huffed, turning her head away.
Xu Xingchun bent down to put her shoes on for her. His voice had a faint, gentle weariness, rich in texture. “If I stay next to you, it affects your sleep quality.”
It took Fu Xueli quite a while to process what he meant.
Belatedly, she felt a bit embarrassed.
Xu Xingchun personally cooked noodles for her to eat.
Sitting at the dining table, she rested her chin on her hands, putting on an act and saying slowly, “Feed me. You’ve made my waist and back ache so much, I have no strength to move.”
Without any complaint, he good-naturedly picked up the bowl and chopsticks from the table and did as she asked.
While shamelessly enjoying Xu Xingchun’s five-star service, Fu Xueli stared at him and suddenly called out, “Xu Xingchun.”
He responded with a “Mm.”
She asked with some hesitation, “You know, that… um… will you ever get tired of my bad temper?”
Thinking about it carefully, she could barely stand herself.
The dining room chandelier hung rather low. Xu Xingchun sat next to her, bathed in soft light. He wore a simple white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, looking proper and handsome. After a moment of silence, he said, “No, I won’t.”
Fu Xueli immediately changed her tune, poking his arm with her finger. “I know you won’t. But even if you do get tired of it, you can’t. Just put up with it.”
She had always been this way. A spoiled young lady used to being waited on, willful and unreasonable.
Just as she was about to speak again, someone suddenly knocked on the door.
Xu Xingchun went to open it. Fu Xueli sat in her seat playing with her phone.
The person knocking didn’t come in. Xu Xingchun left the door slightly ajar and stood in the doorway talking to that person.
Fu Xueli was messaging Tang Xin on WeChat.
Tang Xin asked: How do you still have time to run off and play with your police officer? You rushed over as soon as you got back to the country? Don’t you know men don’t really like women who are too forward?
Fu Xueli: Hmph, what do you know? XXC is different from other men. Besides, you can always make time if you try hard enough.
Tang Xin: Fine, whatever. Tomorrow at 11 AM is your fan meet. I’ll have Xixi pick you up.
By the time she finished chatting, over ten minutes had passed. Xu Xingchun still hadn’t come back in. Fu Xueli bit half a noodle, burning her tongue on the hot steam. She had just put down her chopsticks, thinking of going to the door to check, when she saw Xu Xingchun come in.
She watched him approach and looked up to ask, “Who was that just now?”
“My colleague.”
“What’s the matter?”
“Nothing.”
“What is it really?”
“I might have to go out of town for an assignment next week.”
He paused, and though his expression was very calm, she suddenly felt nervous. “For how long?”
“Two weeks, or maybe a month.”
Fu Xueli continued eating her noodles, making a noncommittal sound. “Is it dangerous?”
A long silence followed. Xu Xingchun just sat quietly, but his gaze made her a bit anxious. Fu Xueli ate very slowly, then suddenly threw down her chopsticks. She abruptly raised her voice, her eyes blazing, “I asked you if it’s dangerous or not!”
“I don’t know.”
Realizing what he meant, her mind was in chaos. She stubbornly persisted, “What do you mean you don’t know? Is it dangerous or not? What do you mean you don’t know? What does that mean?”
Only when she fell silent did Xu Xingchun gently take Fu Xueli’s hand, giving her a calm look. “Don’t worry about me.”
Today, the Anti-Drug Squad at the Shanghai Public Security Bureau was bustling with activity.
A reporter was interviewing an investigator in the main hall.
In the office, Xu Xingchun held the phone between his shoulder and ear, taking out a wet wipe to clean his hands. His eyes glanced to the side, and he picked up a magazine to flip through.
A young man passing by exclaimed in surprise, “Wow?! Fu Xueli!”
Xu Xingchun casually reported an address to Liu Jingbo, then hung up the phone. He put the magazine back in its original place.
The young man was surprised to see that Xu Xingchun, who usually seemed so serious and meticulous, was actually reading a gossip magazine, and reading it so intently!
He couldn’t help but smile and specifically added, “Hey, I didn’t expect you liked Fu Xueli too, Lieutenant Xu.”
“Mm.”
The young man was really bored, so he tried to make conversation. “How long have you liked her?”
“Many years.”
The young man looked at him in astonishment.
Xu Xingchun didn’t seem to be joking.
He sighed knowingly, with an expression that said “I totally get it,” and took out his phone to open the live stream of Fu Xueli’s fan meet. He moved closer to Xu Xingchun, “Come on, let’s watch together. Take a break.”
It wasn’t clear which part of the event it was, but it seemed to be nearing the end. The screen showed a large group of media reporters surrounding her, asking questions.
There was a lot of chatter, mostly asking about the recent rumors of her affair in Paris.
Suddenly, a reporter spoke up, “Can you share a bit about your current relationship status?”
A staff member nearby was about to step in to smooth things over when Fu Xueli looked at that reporter and slowly, in a very calm tone, asked,
“Have you heard the song ‘Promise’?”
The venue went quiet, with only her voice audible. “I wrote that for him.”
This “him.”
Without saying more, everyone knew who she meant.
“This is the first time I’ve mentioned him in front of you all, and it probably won’t be the last.”
“He’s a very ordinary person, but,” Fu Xueli smiled faintly, “he’s my first love.”
This short sentence silenced the entire venue. It was truly shocking. Then came a surge of screams from her fans.
At the same time, it was like a bucket of cold water, extinguishing the burning hearts of many male fans.
The backstage control room erupted into chaos.
Fu Xueli didn’t stop there. She pointed at herself, facing the camera, “I have a very bad personality. I’ve been that way since I was little. Although I’m very pretty, not many people around me liked me.”
“Only he could tolerate my unpredictable temper anytime, anywhere. I don’t know why, but there’s someone whose patience with me is unbelievably good.”
“When I was little, I was very delicate and cried a lot. No one else knew how to deal with me. Only he was very patient, comforting and persuading me over and over. Even though the more he tried to persuade me, the more I cried, he still kept comforting me.”
Hearing this, the interviewing reporter suddenly felt incredibly envious.
