Chapter 46 – “Help Bring Some Water, Little Classmate”:

“Little classmate, are you not taking PE class?” Jiang Qian looked up at him: “Right, I’m excused.” “Bring me some water then, little classmate.” Xu Si leaned closer.

From his angle, he could clearly see Jiang Qian’s profile – her fair skin with fine peach fuzz, long eyelashes, and frame so thin he could lift her with one hand. Xu Si stared at her curled eyelashes for a moment. Tsk. The little prude had pretty long eyelashes.

“Okay.” Xu Si put his meal card on her desk: “Buy some water, and get whatever else you want.”

Jiang Qian stared at the card for a moment before putting it in her pocket, mumbling: “I’ll buy the whole store.” “What?” Jiang Qian met his questioning gaze: “Nothing, you misheard.”

Xu Si watched her: “That’s not honest, little classmate. I can’t afford the whole store, but I can afford to let you buy whatever else you want.”

Seeing his playful expression, Jiang Qian couldn’t help asking: “You heard me, didn’t you? Why ask if you heard?” Xu Si smiled: “I just wanted to hear you say it again.” Jiang Qian fell silent.

Luo Xing ran over from the front: “Qianqian, class is starting soon, shall we go down together?” Jiang Qian replied: “Sure.”

Phoenix and ginkgo trees lined the school paths, already starting to shed leaves. Early autumn had arrived, but the temperature hadn’t dropped – the sun was baking the ground hot.

Luo Xing held Jiang Qian’s hand: “Qianqian, you did so well on the tests. If I got scores like that, my mom probably wouldn’t be able to sleep all night from excitement.” Jiang Qian smiled at her.

“Qianqian, can I come to you with questions in the future?” “Of course.” “Ahh, Qianqian, you’re such a treasure!” Luo Xing excitedly hugged Jiang Qian just as Xu Si and Yang Shikun passed by.

Yang Shikun greeted them familiarly: “Jiang, Luo.” Jiang Qian smiled at him.

The boy carrying a ball looked somewhat cold and unapproachable. He turned to look at Jiang Qian in Luo Xing’s embrace: “Little classmate, don’t forget my water.” Jiang Qian replied: “I know.”

With his long legs, the boy soon left Jiang Qian and Luo Xing behind.

Yang Shikun finally realized: “Water? Brother Si asked you to bring him water?” Xu Si made a sound of agreement.

Yang Shikun became more convinced of Jiang Qian’s special status – Brother Si wouldn’t even look at water other girls brought, yet he actively asked Jiang Qian to bring some. She was definitely different.

Luo Xing watched them leave and asked Jiang Qian: “He asked you to buy him water?” Jiang Qian took out his card: “Yes, since I’m not taking PE, I’ll help bring him water.”

Luo Xing laughed: “Haha, even someone like Brother Si can’t resist a sweet girl.” “Sweet girl?” Jiang Qian realized she meant her and looked confused.

Luo Xing cupped her face: “Oh my, Qianqian, you’re such a sweet girl, okay? That confused expression – oh my goodness, even I, another girl, find it super sweet!”

While Jiang Qian was still processing the previous comment, her face was cupped, her almond eyes showing confusion.

Shen Mo wore the school uniform top today – unprecedented – but still not the uniform pants. Her hair was in a high ponytail, top button undone, wearing flashy earrings. Her makeup wasn’t heavy but still striking and bold.

With a candy in her mouth, she walked over, glanced at Jiang Qian, and pulled out a lollipop: “Want one? Got it as change, if you don’t want it I’ll give it to someone else.” One might think she was offering poison.

Jiang Qian took the candy: “Thank you.”

Seeing her obedient manner, Shen Mo felt something. Damn, this good student was kind of cute.

To maintain her image, Shen Mo still looked at her arrogantly: “Heard you ranked third in school last time?” Jiang Qian nodded seriously: “Yes.” “Pretty good. I’m going.”

Halfway gone, Shen Mo turned back: “Oh right, I returned your clothes.” Jiang Qian smiled: “I know.”

Shen Mo left with her friend.

Luo Xing was confused: “Qianqian, when did you get so close with Shen Mo?” Jiang Qian: “We’re not.” “But she just gave you candy.”

Jiang Qian looked at the lollipop for a while: “I guess we’re somewhat familiar.” Luo Xing: “They don’t give expensive lollipops like that as change.”

Jiang Qian looked at the candy again and smiled.

The class bell rang. Luo Xing said to Jiang Qian: “Qianqian, I need to go line up. Bye!” “Okay.”

Jiang Qian sat in the shade, watching PE class on the other side. PE always started with three laps. Those at the back seemed unable to keep up, yelling for those ahead to slow down. Some crouched to tie their shoelaces, taking an entire lap to do so.

Some envied her not having to take PE, but she didn’t even qualify for intense exercise.

Jiang Qian looked up at the rustling leaves, then took out the card to buy his water. At the store, she struggled with the many drink options, including sports drinks. After hesitating, she chose room temperature Nongfu Spring water.

Near checkout, she switched to a cold one and added some candy and two more bottles of water. She paid for his water with his card and her candy and extra water separately.

She sat in the shade, took out Shen Mo’s lollipop, unwrapped it and put it in her mouth, then threw the wrapper in the trash. Not knowing when Xu Si would want water, she sat there obediently holding the bottle.

The PE teacher seemed to be teaching some exercises.

Xu Si glanced at Jiang Qian sitting in the shade, a stick in her mouth and a bag in hand, presumably his water. She was looking down at something intently.

Xu Si watched her for a while – what was she looking at so seriously? Ants on the ground? The little prude had interesting hobbies.
