“Study god, your friend from No.17 Middle School sent you something,” Yang Shikun pointed at the delivered items as Jiang Rong came in.
“No.17 Middle School?”
“Yeah, they said they’re your friend from No.17.”
Jiang Rong looked confused: “But I don’t have any friends from No.17.”
Yang Shikun: “?”
He looked at the items in his hands: “I’m not sure, they said you’d know when No.17 was mentioned.”
Xu Si came in from outside and saw them: “What’s going on?”
Yang Shikun held up the items and explained to Xu Si: “A boy just came by to deliver something. He said Study god would know when No.17 was mentioned, so I thought it was her friend and accepted it for her.”
Xu Si was quiet for a moment before saying: “It’s that boy who asked for your contact info before.”
With Xu Si’s reminder, Jiang Rong remembered.
Yang Shikun held the items awkwardly: “Sorry Study god, I didn’t check properly. What should we do with these? Should we return them?”
But he didn’t know which class the boy was from, so returning them would be difficult.
“It’s okay, not your fault. Give them to me.”
She took the items and opened the box, finding a note inside.
Xu Si sat nearby, pretending to read but secretly watching Jiang Rong open the items.
The note had neat handwriting: “Miss Jiang, Happy Christmas Eve,” signed with the character “Xia.”
Jiang Rong put away the note, saw the candy and chocolate inside, and stuffed them in her drawer. She asked Xu Si: “What should I give in return?”
Xu Si replied sourly: “I don’t know.”
“I don’t like owing people. I’ll return something to be even.”
Hearing this, Xu Si felt much better: “Tomorrow’s Christmas, just give something simple.”
“Okay.”
That evening.
After finishing their study session.
“Xu Si, are these okay?”
Xu Si looked at the candy and Christmas hat she held up: “Yes.”
Jiang Rong put them in a gift bag, added some snacks: “That’s good then.”
After chatting a while longer, Jiang Rong said: “I’ll ask his friend which class he’s in and deliver these tomorrow.”
“Okay.”
Though he knew why, Xu Si still felt somewhat annoyed.
Before she could message anyone, Jiang Rong received a message from Xia Chen’an.
[Xia Chen’an]: Happy Christmas Eve!
Jiang Rong: Happy Christmas Eve! Thanks for the gifts, no need to trouble yourself in the future.
[Xia Chen’an]: It’s no trouble.
Jiang Rong: What’s your friend’s name? I’ll have him take something to you.
Xia Chen’an couldn’t help smiling at her message.
[Xia Chen’an]: Class 12, Wang Ge.
The next day.
As soon as class started, Fang Zixin received a desk full of gifts and told the students: “Save your money for food, no need to give me gifts.”
Though he said this, he felt warmth in his heart.
“We still have money for food, Teacher Fang.”
“Merry Christmas!”
Fang Zixin looked at all the smiling faces: “Merry Christmas, students.”
Jiang Rong took out the items, preparing to deliver them.
Seeing she was about to go, Xu Si spoke up: “I’ll help you deliver them.”
“Is that okay?”
“Mm.” Xu Si took the items from her hands and asked: “Which class?”
Jiang Rong took a small note from her pocket and handed it to him: “Here, just give these to him.”
“Okay.” Xu Si took the items and left.
Students from Class 12 peeked out at Xu Si at their door, wondering if someone had offended this troublemaker.
A boy sitting near the door ran out: “Si-ge, who are you looking for?”
Xu Si looked at the note: “Looking for Wang Ge from your class.”
“Wang Ge, someone’s looking for you.”
A tall, thin boy came out, looking nervously at Xu Si, wondering why he was being sought out.
“Wang Ge?”
“Yes.”
Xu Si handed over the items.
Now not just Wang Ge was confused, but the whole class too.
Did Xu Si like men?
That didn’t seem right.
Xu Si looked as straight as they come.
“Delivering this for my desk mate.”
“Huh?” Wang Ge was bewildered.
Delivering for his desk mate?
Wang Ge’s first thought was wondering who his desk mate was to have Xu Si delivering things for them.
“Yesterday, didn’t you deliver something to my desk mate from your No.17 friend?” Xu Si asked coolly.
“Si-ge, you’re Jiang Rong’s desk mate?” Wang Ge finally understood.
Xu Si made an “mm” sound and said: “Give this to your friend.”
For some reason, Wang Ge felt Xu Si seemed fiercer when saying this, though maybe it was his imagination.
He nodded: “Okay, thanks Si-ge.”
Xu Si made another “mm” sound and left.
Wang Ge held the items, waiting until Xu Si was far away before sighing in relief. The pressure had been intense.
Jiang Rong saw Xu Si return and asked: “How did it go? Did you give it?”
Xu Si nodded: “Whatever little teacher asks, I must do it.”
Jiang Rong smiled and took out a gift bag from her drawer: “This is your Christmas gift.”
“I get a gift too, little teacher?”
Jiang Rong smiled: “Yes.” She handed the items to Xu Si.
Xu Si pulled out a hat, white with simple letters printed on it.
It looked nice, but seemed a bit small.
Xu Si tried the hat against his head, then held it in his palm, looking at it for a while.
“That hat is for Yuan Yuan.”
Xu Si pulled out a red string with a delicate silver bell attached.
“That’s also for Yuan Yuan.”
Xu Si looked in the bag and found study materials at the bottom with large text: “Most Complete English Materials, Suitable for Students with Weak English Foundation!”
Xu Si pulled out the practice papers and couldn’t help laughing: “Little teacher, you really care about me, giving me practice problems for Christmas.”
Jiang Rong explained seriously: “These problems are really good. I looked for a long time online before buying them for you. You should really try them.”
Xu Si smiled: “If little teacher bought them, of course I’ll do them.” He paused: “But little teacher, aren’t you playing favorites? Yuan Yuan gets two gifts, I only get one.”
